Hey fellow EY peep! Working in a silo is definitely tough especially if you’re new. Thing is, i think a lot of it is pandemic driven. For a large company EY is typically very social. I started in 2019 and had multiple group training sessions and flew out to meet my team, folks flying into my city met up with me etc (I’ve been almost 100% remote pre-pandemic). I guess what I’m saying is it’s not necessarily an EY thing, it may be more of a pandemic team. Could vary by team though. On-site projects with a team are much different as well. Usually you’ll have lunches/dinners/team events etc. When things open up and if you’re still here, look for an opportunity to roll off your project. Your counselor could possibly help you with that. In the mean time, learn as much of you can.
To answer your question though, what i’ve seen in tech, the 3 to 5 yr. mark is the sweet spot along with your experience. Your level at EY may not make as much of a difference to other companies unless the hiring manager came from consulting and understands the leveling system. If you really want to get out quickly, get some relevant certs and try to get experience in areas that are hot.
Also, check out a place like Slalom. They will most likely be able to provide you the culture you’re looking for.
