Omg okay so many people here saying they do care. Listen friend, as long as your email is appropriate (please do not make your email something like sexykitten69, a legit email address I had to extend an interview through) it does not matter, and if someone would genuinely take it into consideration as a component of whether or not you get hired, you absolutely do not want to work for that person.

like

M1, I wouldn’t accept an interview with you anyway so I don’t really think that’s an issue. EY is an old boys club from what I’ve seen and I don’t want to be in that environment ever again.

Yes, it would look more professional, but does it matter in the sense of getting a job? No. Not unless all of you on here are using someone’s email address as one of the factors in whether or not they get an interview or a job. Creating the email isn’t difficult, and I didn’t say it was. It’s transitioning to a new email from an old one that’s super time consuming.

You've left college/ university get a real email

like

Can't edit my comment lol. Was trying to convey there is alumni email that one could use

This has “I went to an Ivey” feel to it.

like

I went to state school. It was just the email I’d been using for four years and I was a recent grad, so it really didn’t make a difference if people knew that 🤷‍♀️

like

OP, if you have no experience and you’re applying for your first role after graduating, then it’s fine to use a college email address. If you’ve already been working for a 2+ years and you’re applying now, it makes sense to use another email address.

The danger is that at first glance on your resume, it gives the impression that you have no experience. Just my $0.02.

like

Lol I graduated much before you and still use my school email address

like

Lmao I graduated college in 2016 and still use my college email for everything personal

like

Nah. I kept using mine for five or six years after graduating.

Probably matters where you graduated from

It does. Maybe not a lot, but for sure it does

I moved to the US from Canada last August. Recently got my work permit and now looking for work. Can anyone look at my resume and give me some advise or leads on what kind of jobs I'm best suited for? I live in a remote in PA. Not many jobs around here at all. I wouldn't mind working remotely.

Need some advice. Started a few months ago a new job through internal transfer as a lead role in a bank for $350TC. Amazon Web Services keeps messaging me daily for a Principal role and I’m not really in the job market but I think I’ll go through the interview process. I was thinking of demanding the following but I’m not sure how realistic for a remote principle role this is

Base: $240k
Cash Bonus: $110k
Signing Bonus: $150k
RSU: 9,100 shares ($1m PV) in (50/20/15/15)
Does this seem possible?

I interviewed for an internal QA position. I had been regularly communicating with the Lead about the position for months. I thought the interview went well. It was w/ the QA Lead and the head of the department. I was sent rejection a week later. It’s disappointing. There was side conversation yesterday with another co-worker who ended up getting one of the two internal QA position. They made an interesting note that they were offered the job before the interview was finished. Am I overthinking?

Maybe this is the wrong platform for this, but to me the whole virtual interview process is so fake to me. Granted virtual can never REALLY take the place of in person interviews. The interviewer will say “yeah you did great” I think you’ll be a great fit here “……then ghosts you for a long time. All the fake questions. All the “requirements” that won’t equal a good employee. I just wish ppl would be real.

How do you feel about Seattle and would you recommend moving here? Considering from DC - primarily for family reasons, although my family isn’t in WA, but it’s the closest American city to them in western Canada. I’ve lived in DC, Boston, NY for a decade, and appreciate good transit, walkability, great and diverse restaurants, etc. I’m fearful that I won’t like Seattle because it’s car-dependent, a bit more homogenous, etc. I love the mountains and outdoor activities but not in winter (cont’d)

I'm from Baltimore, and lately, we have had a crazy buying spree, I mean I have sold the same property 2 times in less than 2 weeks, and the person who bought it immediately put it on the market and made an average of $25k in less than 5 days. Many reports show that investing in Baltimore and Philadelphia is the future, I don't doubt it. What is the fastest you have ever resold a property?
