Graduated with STEM degree 4 years ago and worked in financial services as a technical business analyst for 3 years. I made the mistake of accepting a role that has absolutely NO growth potential and has become a roadblock in my career.
I’m firing away applications for roles I’m qualified for and getting no response. I’d like to pivot to Salesforce and get an Admin very but I’m afraid the market will be oversaturated and the same will happen. I’m at a loss here with what to do.

I work at Google Cloud in solutions engineering (I help develop quantitative business cases with sales teams for customers). My cash base + bonus is $220k (going to ignore equity). I have an MBA from the University of Chicago, not that it matters much in sales. I have always been in a consulting role but I think I can make more in sales. At what point does “ego” stop mattering? Over the past 5 years I’ve worked my way to being an Account Manager, but ultimately my career goal is to work for the government. There’s an opportunity to be an admin assistant working for the government, and would be a nice way for me to get in and move up. But the title change from Account Manager to Assistant is a big deterrent. Logically I know that it doesn’t matter, but emotionally it’s hard to feel like I am taking a major career step back?
