Joe Biden has received the endorsement of the leader of the Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP).
This endorsement makes a lot of sense seeing his planned taxation and spending policies. New running mate candidate, perhaps?

I went to public school here and really appreciated my experience. I got to go to school with a really diverse group of kids and feel that I benefited a lot from that. I’m not sure what rating the schools had but I think they were probably reasonably good, and the amount of money my parents would have spent sending me to a private school is probably insane. I feel like I got a good education that prepared me for college and more importantly, the outside world. It felt a bit like the private school kids I knew lived in a bit of a bubble.
I’m definitely biased, but I’m a big fan of public schools and if I have kids they’re definitely going to public school here.

+1 to this. I went to a public school, and I feel like I have a far better life perspective than my colleagues who went to private school from elementary school through college. I get the sense a lot of them live in a social bubble that severely distorts their perspective on a lot of issues.
I think you probably need to go off more than just the rating. I know some of those are way off. Also depends on what private school you are interested in.
Depending on what your kid is into and what the schools offer, you might be better off attending a good public schools and hiring a tutor for individual attention.
Really depends on where you are geographically and the specifics of the school. If you are in NYC then getting into a top public school is tough and most people do private. If you are in the northern suburbs of Chicago then the public schools are some of the best in the country. The most important thing to know about US public education is that in almost all places it is funded by hyper local property taxes so the cost of housing in the area is almost directly linked to the quality of the public schools (lots of downsides to this system but that is another convo). As always there are nuances (like the NYC example where some of those top schools are also competitive or lottery based for entry).
I went to one of the best public schools, and honestly they had more class options than any of the local private schools (mechanics, forensic science, astronomy, comedy improv)
It depends on where you live. We're set on staying in the city (Chicago) so that limits our options. We can try to bet on getting into a magnet school when it's time for high school, or pay for a spot now in one of the top private schools that runs all the way through high school. You can also go public and try to get your kid into private school when it's time for high school, but that is a harder lift.
We're doing the private school K-12 route right now. I'm not really into it, I'm not impressed by the education or the administration. That said I don't really have anything to compare it to as far as elementary education in the city. The other families/kids are nice enough. My kids are 4 and 7 so we'll see how that evolves as they get older.
We're still going to have them take the tests for the magnet schools and consider transferring when in high school. I would much rather have them exposed to a wider group of people, and possibly higher academic standards, than be in the private school "bubble" the entire time.
My husband and I both went to public schools and then magnet schools, which I think was great. We're just not down with uncertainty about good high schools.
I was public from k-9 and private 10-12. Was a great experience and benefited from both
Schools ratings change so just the school ratings shouldn't be the only factor. You can't be hopping to different schools if there's a shift in school ratings (unless it drops significantly say from 8/9 to 3/4)
