Consulting Exit Opportunities

Guidehouse vs North Highland ~Academy. Similar pay/level. GH would be 0% travel, more staff aug, & more job safety. NHA would be 25-100% travel, more strategy work

Assuming you’re referring to the cdc account with Guidehouse. Would steer clear. Toxic leadership. And also the work you’d be doing wouldn’t be applicable to commercial so would pigeonhole you in Federal forever.

Yeah except we’re about to merge with Navigant, so we’ll have commercial opportunities. I’m not on the CDC account so I can’t speak to the leadership’s quality

I do hear it’s one of their better accounts and good WLB, but yes am concerned with potentially being pigeon holed

D1 comes across as a salty ex-GH person with an axe to grind. Guidehouse offers great development opportunities as associates - we don’t pigeonhole staff into one solution so you can get a variety of experience. Commercial opps will definitely be there with the Navigant acquisition. Also, Fed work may not always come across as super sexy, but we have great clients and colleagues. I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy Fed work but it has been a very pleasant surprise. I have never done staff aug work in my time here. Not to mention the fact I get the opportunity to live my life and not travel all of the time

confirming GH1. My director discussed commercial opportunities with me and asked if I can help with some once the deal is closed.

Former North Highlander here, stay away from the Academy. With internal structure it’s very hard to move into the capabilities, as they have to take you onto the P&L. Want you to have experience doing their projects to move up but hard to get a shot over the folks they are responsible for staffing. You’ll likely get staffed on a travel project on a decentralized team if you aren’t in one of the big offices (ATL or Charlotte). The smaller offices are generally industry client specific, so if you join there you’ll most likely do the work that’s close.

You think? With the acquisition of Navigant sounds like leadership has a view where employees can bounce back & forth. Don’t know if that’s just fluff tho

The CEO has stated that he wants people to be able to easily move between commercial and public sector, so take that for what it’s worth

Starting as an EA, will move to SA in public sector, then hopefully switch to commercial and build my case for M there. Question is, assuming I get to M only doing public sector work, would I be able to get M interviews opps elsewhere

Well if commercial work really is that close, then disregard what i said. I was told very differently by the Guidehouse team at CFC.
