Guy texts me a month after our first date saying he was too busy to respond before because he went on one business trip (in the same state) and had been working 45 hour weeks. Bitch, please.

You're welcome OP and C1 its a light hearted and brief way of saying no. I'll grant you that, manners and diplomacy = always the better way to handle things, but dating reallllly challenges social perceptions of common decency. Why does she owe him manners after he disappeared? Radio silences are rude too

like

1. Never said OP had to give him the time of day. And at no point did I say his behavior was acceptable
2. Guess what? There are jobs out there that only require 40-45 hours a day and those folks provide for themselves and their families just fine
3. Walking around like your shit don't stink or acting all high and mighty because a career that you choose yourself requires more hours, etc. is arrogant.
4. Yes, I'm out in the dating circus myself and making the choice to not be overly critical or judgy doesn't mean giving charity

I can't even remember the last time I worked less than 45 hours smh

I remember the last time I worked a 45 hour week! miss that internship

Tell him "that's cute"

like

Wow and called me a rhymes with runt (does fb have filters?). I've clearly missed out on a winner here, guys. Ah well, I'll live.

like

It was the extra 5 hours that killed his ability to text back.

like

Weird thing is, he asked me out again. I just went with "That's cute. Pass." Thanks, the Donald. (Never thought I'd have to say that)

like

Fuck that guy, honestly. He was disrespectful of your time and expects you to cater to his whims of when it's convenient for him to have you in his life? That's not how relationships work. You can't just not have a SO for a whole month if your work is tough.

like

Tell him that nobody is that busy and he would have made time to contact you if he wanted to. I went on a date with a grad student and he wrote some bullshit about how he has family commitments and lots of school work. I replied and asked him if he's implying that I don't have those things in my life. We all have work and family. That doesn't make someone a special snowflake. This is a stupid way of telling someone that you're not interested, I guess.

@OP guys do this all the time, it happens when someone is not very interested in the girl but at the same time feels something is better than nothing and she might not be that bad a few times, if you know what I mean.
Ignore the text if you do not Want to be the source of his entertainment ;)

Please post your response destroying him

like

Oh he immediately texted back accusing me of being bitter.

like

Wow. Just wow.

We chose our work life and he chose his. Just because 45/week is chicken feed to us doesn't mean it's that easy for some else. Have perspective and get over yourself. Your response to him does come off bitter and pandering (VERY Donald of you for sure) and snobbish.

That being said, calling you c*nt wasn't appropriate and asking out again after that is weird.

like

@C1 have you been out there? Nothing wrong with being judgmental and snobbish when you're picking dates. This isn't a fucking charity.

like

Tell him he's a real go getter working 45 hrs a week and that he doesn't have time for any more commitments.

like

Wow, you dodged a massive bullet, OP. That's the type of guy who would be physically and verbally abusive.

like

@C2 that's my new life motto: this isn't a fucking charity 😂😂😂😂

Seriously. I'm judging myself a little for having gotten coffee with him in the first place. Damn online dating.

...and why ask me out again?
