Guys, I work in products. Can someone ELI5 what's going on with all these FS layoffs?

My ECD was really pushing for me to get promoted to CD. Our group president wanted to see more townhall presentations by me and if I do so I can get promoted to CD in October, he promised.
Unfortunately, I will get laid off this month. What title do I give myself best on LinkedIn and my resume? Shall I go for CD? As the company will pay few more months of salary I’m thinking of keeping the company name on LinkedIn as well. Awkward to change title to CD at xxx?

I have been saving and I am considering two options. 1) Open up my own accounting shop and quit my day job. I would have to start with no clients. 2) Buy another rental property and keep working just hard enough to not get fired. Which option would you recommend to your little brother?

I just landed a full time role in creative at an agency but I have PTSD from my last job. I know this is kind of a broad ask, but I could use any advice that would help me not be terrible at work and keep me from getting fired.

How do you know if your firm has given up on you (doesn’t really see you as a future firm leader and doesn’t want to invest in your development anymore)? Any signs to watch for? I understand that it’s not as simple as whether you’re fired or not.
