Backbone Media in Denver/Carbondale could be a good transition. They’re mainly PR and (duh) media, but they sometimes do have creative openings
Oh also! Look into Smartwool. For whatever reason, they have trouble finding people who want to live in Steamboat Springs which is baffling because it is god damn beautiful.
Also also.... Fjallraven in Boulder.
You're never going to get a job waiting for online postings for any of these places. Most real positions don't even get posted. You need to network and reach out to people for advice and informational chats to learn more about each place and build relationships. Also, there are far too many other options beyond the few you've listed (that also everyone else wants too). Expand way beyond these big names if you're actually serious about pursuing the field
Patagonia has a few former Ogilvy creative folks on staff
Even if it's for a company like Osprey in the middle of no where. I am.always looking at REI, Patagonia, Arc'teryx, etc but never any positions..help appreciated!!!
I saw rei and Patagonia hiring a while back for in house. Just keep checking the boards!
It’s just a opportunistic waiting game then! I’d love to work for outdoor brands, I love nothing more than nature. Unfortunately, most of them are located in the west coast :(
Yeah! They posted for senior copywriter / cd gigs about 4 months ago and I rechecked but looks like they were filled. Don’t give up! I’m hoping a gig at a place like Cotopaxi opens up.
Maybe check out what agencies do work for them too?
Actually, Sid Lee does a load of work for North Face. More than what they do in-house. Maybe check them out?
