Hi Guys,
I need to activate DM. Please like my post.
If you can’t retain, then you likely don’t understand it. Try focus on the concepts. Also most tests are multi choice. Use the approach of elimination. More than often, it’s easy to tell what definitely won’t be the answer.
bro just relax! Most tech is easy to understand. don’t get lost in the marketing, tool specific terminologies, menus., etc. Try to learn from a birds eye view, just take in what the tech/platform does or purpose it serves. Understand what most likely universal concepts are used on the platform. Then from there the details will be easier to remember, don’t overwhelm yourself with the details right away. If you want to give me something your tried to learn i can tell you how i would approach it.
This might be part of something bigger. Is there a pattern to your memory retention symptoms?
What kind of certifications are you going after? some are easier than others. Some can be pretty challenging and do require a lot of study.
Many years back when I got my PMP i had to devote roughly 2 hours/day for 2 months just for exam prep.
Others are easier, and others harder.
Whomever thinks you can take certs lightly is mistaken.

I have similar issues when it comes to exams. Found that taking smaller bites of information more often rather than trying to cram knowledge works to retain information more long term.
I suggest using flash cards/apps to study between other tasks throughout the day for a few weeks. Also take practice exams often as this will help alleviate anxiety and improve recall capability.
The same rules and issues related to stress/anxiety applied to me for job interviews. The first few interviews I'd have when job hunting - I'd forget simple things or get stuck on simple questions, even with decades of experience.
By doing lots of interviews and being methodical with how I approach, prepare, and respond in interviews - I became relaxed, less stressed, was able to recall information easier, and communicate with more confidence.
Lastly, try all kinds of methods and find what works best for you. Best wishes.

Anxiety may be causing you to forget under pressure. I usually try to apply to something I would have to do for a project. Helps make the right decisions. If it’s technical I used to run labs to really learn the material.
You may be approaching the study wrong. Identify the context that you learn better. For example, I like to dive deep into the context and explore alternatives once I find concrete use cases and why (and why not) the technology would be the right choice I can encapsulate that knowledge better as I have structure to explain it to a customer.
Studying shouldn’t be done to pass exams, you should learn to apply in the customer context, and by synergies pass the exam.
In my day to day with CTOs they don’t give me 4 options for me to choose from, I need to build the knowledge by asking questions on requirements and point to what I perceive being the best balance of trade-offs for their specific context.
A lot of revisions come as you progress work, is not a one-off multiple choice decision and done.
I’m trying to switch teams, my manager himself has no college degree so he doesn’t understand what it takes to study
I can help you. DM me.
Find a course through one of the chapters. Not sure what you trying to go for, but ISACA and IIA have classes for their certs. It made a HUGE difference for me and I understood the test taking approach and style.
Did you have Covid? That’s a potential side effect.
Yes took a year to recover but I am 100% fine
