H, S, W are at the top. How do you rank the next top schools? Like Columbia, Kellogg, Booth, MIT, UCB, UCLA, Michigan, NYU, etc.

Booth, Columbia, Kellogg, MIT, UCB, NYU, Michigan, and finally UCLA is how I would do it. You can always switch the places of any three consecutive schools and still get a plausible list. I think it is more helpful to think of these schools in tiers. HSW are Tier 1 booth Columbia, Kellogg, MIT are Tier 2 and the rest in Tier 3. These tiers are just applicable to the list above. Each school listed here will set you up for success.

HSW at the top 3, Booth, Kellogg, Columbia, MIT as the remaining M7, Then UCB, Tuck, Duke to round up the top 10, Then Michigan Ross, NYU, Yale, and UVA to round up top 14. This has been historically long-standing ranking. Honestly, caliber of students from Cornell, UCLA, USC aren’t as good. Yale and NYU have gone up in rankings because Yale Career Mgmt has been pushing students to go into consulting (vs. traditionally non-profit) and NYU... well because it’s a feeder school to banks. Higher starting salary is better for rankings.

But let's be honest here people. Everyone lumps H/S/W together but in terms of quality of candidates H/S then W is a much more apt representation.

I didn't mean for it to come off as blanket statement. Obviously not everyone at H/S are better than W, but it's undeniable that overall, esp candidates coming from traditional backgrounds (consultinf, finance) are more pedigreed. Also I've seen that H/S have access to a very small set of high finance positions that W people don't get

It doesn’t really matter. More important criteria: How much business can you bring into the firm? Do people like you? Can you lead and influence?

OP - Wharton over Chicago and Kellogg does not make sense.
