I do appreciate people showing affection with gifts but feel kids now a day are over gifted. I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?

BCW, what’s your hiring process look like over there? Is hiring an internal priority right now? Seems unusually slow, especially in this talent market. How do you assure yourself that your baby (7 months) is crying at night for reasons that can be helped by sleepy training and not pain or illness? My daughter cries bloody murder, like she’s in horrible pain or something, several times a night. There’s no “always” solution: sometimes she settles with a bottle, sometimes with cuddles, sometimes a diaper change, etc. I’m just at loss, especially as she is perfectly fine and happy during the day.

In my last trimester with the first baby and I’m extremely unmotivated at work… worrying about actual birth, worry about having a baby, worrying about loosing job with a baby and debt (just general anxiety at this point).
