I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

You got the ‘rif’. These decisions were made months ago during talent discussions. You were a bottom 5%. Take the time to process and understand why. Your current project is one factor.
The MD layer is evil
You picked a fight with a MD as a consultant and you’re confused why you were let go?
Yeah but it's something standard tech people get these days across Faang firing .
Most of the firm is not allowing transfers right now. We haven’t been allowing transfers for months, in a similar way that we stopped hiring. So you are reading into that part too much.
Also, it sounds like you may have been difficult to work with in your boss’s eyes. That alone is enough reason to push you to the bottom 5% and let go for performance.
The PA process is not fair at all. It’s such a BS process where the SM and the MDs that you had smooched all along , fight for you, for your promotion etc. I have seena fair share of jealous SM in Accenture, who get nervous if the manager is performing and knows better than the SM. That’s why it’s Accenture!
While it sucks to lose a job, definitely feels like you're leaving out information and approaching the situation purely through emotion over logic and patience. No one gets fired for no reason, and if you ask, HR will/has to tell you. You either didn't ask and just want to be upset about it or you do know and don't want to share; equally immature and non-productive positions.
Wow. Get an attorney asap and review the reasons behind your termination. And, see if there is a case for you.
Seen this happen a few times in the London office
Sorry man. Keep your head up. Accenture is a big black box. Just move on
Check with an attorney before you move on.
You were given absolutely no reason at all? Not a single one, your PA just says "Fired for no reason"?
You do get unemployment benefits, apply for those. Regardless of circumstances (we're only working with 1 side of the story here), it's at will employment so your position can be terminated at any time for any reason as long as it doesn't violate EEO. And why fight it? If I had a rough experience like that, I wouldn't want the job back, I'd start looking elsewhere.
Yes fired for no reason
Did they call it a performance layoff? Classification matters
Smells like retaliation. There must be a reason for termination. You have to provide that when you apply
For unemployment. Have they provided severance package?
How did your complaint go?
