I interviewed with Firm A months ago and accepted a position to start this upcoming fall. Group leader called me to offer the position back in November 2020. Besides interviewing with partners at the firms, and diligent follow ups notifying them of my interest to get started, no communication has transpired since. It turns out that I accepted a better offer w/ Firm B for personal reasons and won’t be going to Firm A. What is the best way to notify Firm A? Call/email group leader? Call/email HR?
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Hang in there. You took the action, you did your part. Don’t let a non-reply get you down, it means nothing. Neutral. You don’t know how busy they are. Plus some HR departments advise not to reply in order to keep things neutral or not lead a candidate on.
I make mental notes of thank you’s and mental notes of those who do not say thank you, but I often do not reply. I don’t do it intentionally per say. Don’t take it personally.
At my company, the only people allowed to make contact with a hire outside of an interview setting is HR. Just because they dont respond, doesn't mean they dont appreciate it. Maybe they just cant.
Agree with the OP. If someone takes time out of their day to chat/meet with anybody, the least the other party can do is to acknowledge and reply back. Even if it’s a lame one-liner. Don’t be jerk or worse an asshole. Show some decency and have manners.
I once got really nice replies from every person I met with.
No job offer.
This thank you notes are a nonsense anyways. From whichever side. In our biz the book is everything, no need for games imo.
