Had a meeting today with leadership team where I got to know about layoffs at our company. They eliminated some excess roles and targeted "low performers" he assured me and my team is unaffected and there is no reason to be worried. But looking back, I went through this during peak covid time and still regret the decision that I didn't look for opportunities at that time.
Now, not sure to start looking as I hear layoff's at many firms and an expected recession around the corner. Any thoughts??

Start looking, I had the same line fed to me and 4 months later the chopping block came for my team. Looking early and starting screener interviews reduced my unemployment gap compared to my other co-workers that started after the layoff.

like

hhmm, will tidy up my resume and start applying. on the other hand I see offers getting revoked, layoff's at tech companies, etc., so confused which companies to target for..

Unsure why a Senior Program Manager would be worried. Why would someone running an entire Program be let go out of the blue?

like

They can also restructure and take some hard decisions!

I was always fed the same line every time there was a layoff. Then we got bought out and a month later I was laid off. Always keep your feelers out. You can either go on your terms, or theirs, but nothing’s guaranteed.

like

Exactly. Its just that current timing is not good even out side as there are layoffs everywhere.

Advice time. So I’m making 100k roughly and I still live with my parents. Moved back due to COVID as did a lot of people I think? Anyways I want to save $ to buy a house. Should I still be living at home? I was planning on leaving when COVID finally becomes a thing in the past so assuming the summer of 2022 so roughly 8 months from now. I know I am extremely blessed and thankful to god that my parents are kind and allow me this but just want advice please.

I personally feel that it's absolutely ludicrous the US government is not enforcing or at least asking people to wear masks in healthcare environments like at the pharmacy, doctor's offices, or the hospital. We all wear ours behind the counter but I had a patient come in today WITH covid to pick up her prescription, no mask. I get that she already has it so she isn't worried, but what about the other people around??

Need advice. Am in the middle of parental leave right now and my spouse and I are on the brink of divorce. Have only this 1 kid. Spouse doesn’t work yet, but can with earning potential around $50k. I make around $450k. No way I’d keep this job if divorce happens. I’d eventually transition in house so I can take care of my kid when I have him, but that won’t be immediate. How will custody work in that case? I want joint, but how do I take care of him alone with this job in the meantime?
