Had an interview last week that went well. The next day, HR sent an additional application to fill out (basically same info as the online app). Is that a good sign or usual process for 2 apps? Still waiting to hear back.

Good sign because they are interested in you.....bad sign as they are inefficient

Twice I’ve been required to complete an application after I was hired. Both times this was completed in orientation. Sometimes HR just loves their own templates.

They may have had 2 open positions, interviewed you, and liked you as a candidate better for another role than the one you applied to. I see it as a good sign and they’re just checking off their regulatory boxes (i.e., cover your ass approach in case they get audited and auditor asks questions like “well why did you hire this person that didn’t even apply who is a man / woman / African American / POC etc. and you’re showing preferential treatment to that specific group over others”.

Its not a bad sign....so I guess good

If they weren’t interested, they wouldn’t have you do the extra application.

Good sign that they are interested in you, bad sign their HR department is inefficient and unorganized, problems down the road

I had a 1st round interview last week and I didn’t love the sound of the job. It’s in higher ed. It would also be a 20k pay cut (105 -> 85). They want to do a final round with me this week. During the interview, the director who would be my manager said they are understaffed and very busy. She also said someone in this role needs to love working. I don’t necessarily want to transition to another busy place for a pay cut. The only perk I see is the time off university staff get and tuition...comt

I interviewed for a role for another team within my organization and went on PTO for 2 days. When I came back my director told me I didn’t get the role but there were better plans for me in the near future. I found out from HR after that I did get the role but the organization decided to pause the offer waiting for another one in the near future. How would you react if your Director and company make a career choice for you without consulting with you?
