Who works at DoorDash corporate and can give me advice on interviewing? I have my first round of interviews for a S&O role next week. I know there’s mixed feelings about working there but I need this job and it pays well. I’m working a temp job now and I need something permanent. I do have tech startup experience. Advice and insight would be appreciated!

Any offer has a contingency that allows them to pull the offer at any time and for any reason. Also, most offers have a time limit built into them. Finally, you didn't quit your old job so it would be difficult to prove damages.
Unless this was a contract job and their cancelling the contract violated some clause in the contract, it is unlikely you have a case.

Speak with an employment attorney in your area. Based on the facts, my guess is no.

An attorney is bound by a set of rules of ethics. One such rule requires us to screen cases. If it is going to be frivolous, we're not supposed to take the case. If someone does take a bad case, they run the risk of ruining their reputation and potentially getting sanctioned by the court. It isn't just a matter of money or if someone will take it for free.
Had you accepted the offer with an agreed later start date, or had you put off the acceptance?
From a legal perspective, you can only sue for damages. Because there were no damages, you have no case.
However, if you made significant life choices, based upon the promise of employment, that was later rescinded, you would have a case. But you would’ve had to quit your previous job and possibly even moved for the new job. Then you can show the damages suffered based upon the promise of employment.

I don’t think you have a case. But I think you dodged a bullet. I personally wouldn’t want to work for a company like that. But also, we need a little more context here.
Did they agree to push your start date and then change their mind or something? If they agreed with your new start date and then rescinded, then that’s messed up on their part. It’s also stupid because now they have to start the recruitment process all over again and put a new person through all the interview phases. It makes no sense. It would’ve been better for them to just have you start a little later. It will now take a new person longer to start lol.
Or, did they not agree to your new date to begin with? Also, how long of a push it was it on your part? If it’s was only a week or 2 that’s no big deal. But if you asked to push out by 3 or more weeks, I can understand the company not wanting to wait that long of a time.
they got mad because my flight home from was delayed but over all I have my current job which is great just contract need perm anyone know of perm job CYBER RI area?

It would appear that you don’t have a case. You still have a job. You did not start with the new job when they wanted you to. Did you speak with the hiring manager in advance of the delay to start? A death in the family is a solid reason to cause a delay in starting a new job, if you were attending services, etc. It is not a valid reason for an employer to hold a position open.
Firstly, my condolences to you and your family for the loss of your family member.
Regarding the offer, you can most likely not sue. Every offer has an expiration. If the offer letter ( or email) stated that you have 72 hours to accept, then once you go beyond that period there is no reasonable expectation that the offer will still be available or valid. If they rescind the offer during that window, you may have a case, but only then it most likely would have been only if you quit your job with the expectation that you were going to work for company X.
A lot of good advice
They don’t care! They’ve heard everything under the sun whether it’s true or not! The only time they’ll realize their slap to the face of the one waiting in line for a job is when they themselves wait in line one day and get slapped ! It has happened to many big stuffy bosses! Only until then they’ll have empathy!
Usually you agree on a start date when you accept the offer. Did you accept the offer and request a later date to which they agreed or did you wait until the day you wanted to start to accept their offer? Your post is unclear. When I accepted my current job, I was given 3 days to sign my offer letter. Start date should’ve been discussed then. At which point they would’ve told you they couldn’t wait. I actually asked for an earlier start date but they couldn’t accommodate me either. I still signed the offer letter though so it wasn’t rescinded.
So you didn’t accept the offer then? You’re still not answering my question. It tells you in the offer letter itself “this offer only valid until [date]”. Why would you expect them to hold it for you? This doesn’t sound like a company problem. It sounds like a you problem
What do you want to sue them for to begin with? We need more context here. As a recruiter I’ve seen both sides of the fence. Did you let the company know? if so when exactly? Did you have an agreement In place given the new circumstances?
