Folks with kids - what's your routine for cooking, gym, home chores etc. ? We have a 2.5 year old toddler and we struggle to cook food, drop off our kid in daycare and then cook dinner and find time for working out. I am curious how other working couples organize and manage cooking, home chores gym. I am recently diagnosed with ADHD and curious how others make it work while working full time. Thanks!
Check out inclusivetherapists.com - they have a registry of therapists from all over who are neuro-divergent affirming.
I know of someone great in Southern California, but she sees patients on Zoom.
Look for someone who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy and ADHD on the psychology today website
Yes I have a really good therapist now. But it took me several years to find one. It can be REALLY hard to find a good therapist that is not only in network with your insurance but also specializes in ADHD. You will find someone but it does take time. Hang in there and keep looking! They do not make it easy to find a good therapist these days.
Unfortunately, this is the best it’s been. We need so much change around mental illness, but at least ADHD is even identified. It was not even 30 years ago. My childhood, relationships, self esteem could have been drastically different.
Where are you based? I've found some pretty great therapists off the APA site, it took me a few but I've settled recently with someone that I quite like
Always wondered if an occupational therapist would do any good for ADHD and work place issues.
I hear she’s busy, but here is a link to her site

OP, your issues sound like we are psychic twins! Good luck! (I can’t see DC because she sees a friend of mine.)
I do but in nyc
would you be willing to share their name over dm? i’d been seeing someone but she wasn’t specialized enough in adhd to help me with being effective. starting a new job soon and want to try a new approach

I would love to have a reference too. I live in Switzerland now but online therapy would be perfectly ok with me.
Based on NC USA
No, haven't seen to much of a specialized ADHD therapy online. But I'd think counselors with certifications wouldn't be unfamiliar with ADHD patients; I'd assume they at least have a handful already with ADHD.
I need this too.
F- I have the same problems and have been wondering the same about therapy
A note about virtual therapists—when researching, check to see if they are licensed to treat people out of their state boundaries. I know mine had to stop seeing clients that attended school here when they went home to other states during the early days of the pandemic.
I found a great psychologist and a great psychiatrist who both do CBT for me (I found a unicorn of a psychiatrist who is super generous with her time). Neither are "specialized" in ADHD, but I do find the CBT super helpful to organize my thoughts.
But I did look for ADHD specialized therapists and had NO luck whatsoever 1) finding one 2) finding one that accepted my insurance. Every mental health professional is "qualified" to treat ADHD. But that doesn't mean their super well-versed in it (especially with adults). I've heard that the mental health professional training curriculums are including more info on ADHD now.
Then there's ADHD coaching, but no real quality control there. Nor will insurance cover it... That's my experience at least.
