How does one interview 1Ls?
I interviewed for the position of Associate Human Capital Advisory role at KPMG. I cleared my first round but for the second round tgey gave me 2 case studies and one excel assessment to be completed in 2.5 hours. I think I messed up the case studies and just wrote the approach and recommendations but didn't include any other preferable portions. Is there a minimum cutoff for these assessments?

Not entirely true, my recruiter called me with the “good news” but it was on the same day as my final round.
Update - it was an offer! Pumped to join Deloitte

At my big 4 / group, the recruiter would contact the candidate first. Then they would let the business know so and so received their offer, reach out to encourage them to accept.
It’s also possible that they may have a role open in another group. So maybe they chose someone over you but really liked you and want to know if you would be interested in another role (or perhaps location).
Not at Deloitte but recruiter emailed me saying the exact same thing. Call was about positive feedback from the interviews and starting to think about the compensation.
Thanks everyone. I saw the first comment and basically accepted it was a reject, went for a long run to clear my head. Happy to see some encouraging comments after coming back. I'm not gonna get my hopes up but we'll see what happens tomorrow. I'll let you all know - thanks again for your responses

What do you mean by final round? I just went through this myself and received a similar message after my technical and behavioral interviews. In my case it was the recruiter giving feedback but also coordinating a call with the groups partner to discuss specific projects and interests that ultimately lead to an offer.

If it is good news congrats! If it is something else ask for specific feedback AND if there are other opportunities you could be fast tracked into.
