The funny thing is all the firms need people and will pay a premium to recruit from other firms but no one takes good care of their own people 😫
Especially the ones you personally train for months and then leave as soon as your investment starts to pay dividends..
For the night? While you're stuck at your desk for 5 more hours? Agreed
Yeah it sucks especially when you've been in public for ten or more years and all the friends you stared with are long gone and many others have come after you and are already gone.
One director I became close with over the years just left, thought he was going to be a partner. He got a $85k pay raise and a 25% signing bonus and can work from home 1 day a week. One day...
It sucks when they leave and you have to pick up the slack...
Think you misunderstood my post, I meant that as in that's an amazing offer, especially that he can work from home.
If I was 35 making $285k/year with no kids I wouldn't complain.
It also sucks when it's a manager you're close with so you have no one else to look up to
Directors are "high"? We're middle management. Drones. It's a decent life.
I currently make about 85k in a single income household with a wife and three kids and feel like we make enough that we we're not struggling to make ends meet... add another $115k to get to $200k and I think I would feel like my income is more than "decent."
Nature of the industry. They need the turnover to make room for those coming up through the ranks. Look at PwC. They just promoted maybe 200 partners throughout the entire firm, all service lines. In a firm that has tens of thousands, these 200 partner promotes are not nearly enough to clear the logjam. If there was no turnover there would be a logjam at every level and nobody would be promoted.
@Manager1: Yeah we earn more than all ditch diggers and 7-11 clerks. We are still middle-management drones at these firms. Hey, I said it was a decent life. 😄😄😄
You're living some kind of life if $200K + only qualifies as "decent" :)
When you make $200k and have a family to support, I promise you will not feel wealthy.
Man you get used to it. Makes me make sure I have my resume ready. I had a director I was friends with leave the firm. I feel the people I'm closest with end up leaving
^What do you expect at the director level? Positions that high it's tough to work from home more than one day a week. I think you might have an overly idealistic idea of what jobs at that level entail. That is not uncommon for a position at that level.
Ohhh. Gotcha. Ya that's a great jump. Any idea what his new salary was? That 25% signing bonus? Easily was over $50K no?
I've heard directors at BDO start around 195K in NYM, he has been a director as long as I've been there (3 years) so I'd assume he was well over 200k? So that puts him at about 285k salary?
Someone's salty. Yes "Director" is considered a high position. You're earning more than 90% of the population at that point.
