I’m a new graduate have been actively searching since May to no avail . I previously took classes in real estate, New York civil practice, litigation, family law and business law. How familiar are you with the cases of attorneys you don’t work under? Our firm is a small law firm and organized so that every partner has a secretary or paralegal (3 partners). We have a a couple of associates and law clerks that rotate between the partners. But each secretary normally sticks with their own partner. I work under the managing partner, so I also have a lot administrative and office management duties. Unless I’m asked to do a specific task, I never touch the other partners cases.

Hi everyone. Is it typical for the attorney to take credit for the work a paralegal does? An example: I gave some ideas about deposition questions and some observations I made (I was asked about giving suggestions) regarding a witness and the attorney mentioned that he’s the one that had these great questions/observations. Zero credit or thank you for the work I did.

The insurance company I work for outsourced a huge majority of my work to a third party, ontellus 🤮. I am not longer able to bill for NPNP, SDT and CNOS. I received 5 separate NPNPs from ontellus that either had the incorrect case style, signature block or date. I also sent out an email today after the 5th incorrect NPNP that started with “I am honestly starting to feel like I am on the show Punk’d and waiting for Ashton Kutcher to pop into my office” continued in comments..

Any tips for finding remote paralegal roles? I am currently a senior corporate paralegal.

It recently came to my attention that I’m billing significantly more than is strictly required of me and also more than the attorneys are required to bill (and what they actually bill lol). I know that there are differences in the job description but it feels like I shouldn’t be billing so much. Debating whether I should ask for a raise or if I should take my foot off the gas. Is it appropriate to follow up after interviews to ask why you were not selected? And/or ask for feedback so that you can develop and improve professionally?

I've had SEVERAL interviews since February, and I keep getting rejected and it's starting to leave me feeling discouraged. I've been in my current position for just over 3 years and in the industry for around 4 years and have a bachelor's in Legal Studies. The positions I've applied to all vary in nature.
