In Georgia (Cobb County) we are in preplanning prepping for virtual classes. It will be better than the spring but not the same as face to face.

like

We start with in-person on the 6th. We are also having a virtual option as well.

We are starting face to face so far, but it’s up to the governor. We actually start on the 27th but our students don’t start for a few days after. I wasn’t concerned but after reading some posts I am getting a bit concerned. We are all expected to wear masks and the kids will have dividers at their tables in my room. The teachers will be moving from class to class and the poor kids will stay put.

Who else is starting with students face to face next week?

like

In person Aug. 7th 😞

am currently working as a project structural engineer in London and feel like structural engineering is a dead end job. I have spoken with engineers with 10years+ of experience and their salary is just over 50k.

Do any of you guys in the construction industry or any other engineering industry have any advice? I'm considering either switching to machine learning engineering or becoming a project manager. My degree feels so useless.

I've been dating this girl for 9mo and dtr'ed 5mo ago. She hides me from her family. For ex, we had plans for me to go to her place but something popped up and her brother was there to help. She indirectly told me to not go over until her brother leaves. I brought this up and she said why would I want my brother to know a random person's sleeping over? Same thing for when her parents decide to stop by and I'm at her place, I have to leave immediately. Is it a red flag or is it still too early?

How would you recommend tackling a middle manager bad mouthing to team members and seniors despite having left the job? I worked as a consultant at a globally reputed firm but with a terrible, mind draining team culture — now the middle manager is bad mouthing and of course not communicating her inability to manage her own time, leading to work calls at 10 pm in night and abusive language at work.

Thoughts on PHD in NY?

Got my BISALP yesterday. All went really well and similar to other posts here nothing much is different re: recovery. One thing I would add for plus size folks is I didn’t know I would need to use a little KT tape to keep my belly up so my incisions get air. Not an issue but wanted to share for others. Feel free to ask me any questions!

When having career discussions (with a HM or your current boss), how has everyone handled job-titles that weren't "Product Manager" but you were performing the functions/role? I had a role in my past where our formal job title was "Senior Consultant" but we internally referred to ourselves as "Product Leads". I don't want to mislead others.

My school is a small rural school. We don’t offer many in-house electives. What’s happening is students are having to take whatever is there to fill their schedules. If they aren’t interested in the class, then it becomes an opportunity for disruptions because they aren’t interested. What are some electives you have at your school that are new, innovative and interesting for todays high school students?

I am a new teacher(15 years as a para) I just started this year in middle school. I have some really disrespectful and disruptive behaviors in two of my classes. Ignoring instructions, being loud and blurting out. Getting other students going. I am so sad for the ones that want to learn! I have called home and will again tomorrow. I just don’t know how to gain respect from these few students. Any feedback would be great.
