How are the multiple firms listed on your resume? If you’re listing them like you’ve worked at x-firm for 3 weeks and y-firm for 2 weeks, that might be confusing. Instead, you might to name the recruiting agency and then the different firms underneath that.
Also, what types of jobs are you applying for? Legal assistant or paralegal or both? And what field?
Got it!
Maybe practice assistant or junior paralegal?
Also, I highly recommend working with recruiters - you can work with several at a time. LHH and Robert Half are the big ones, but there may be some smaller/local agencies in your area that you can find.
If you’re able to get a paralegal certificate, I would definitely recommend it. There are several different online courses out there (some ABA-approved and some not).
Happy Halloween! The economy is in a slump right now, so don’t beat yourself up over not being able to pick something up fast. Given that, some would say it’s a good time to get back into school if that’s on the table. Make sure your resume states “contract” for those shorter term agency roles. Reach out through your existing network for better leads, remember that most openings aren’t advertised to the general public. Following up with a recruiter after submitting an application is a good idea, remember to attach your resume and the job posting so you make their job easier. A previous bowl post about getting a paralegal certificate ended with the general consensus that work experience outweighs a certificate most of the time, and depending on the state you’re working in you may already qualify for a paralegal title if you have adequate years of work experience in the legal sector. Best wishes to you in your job search, I’m rooting for you!
