(For more context, she has a degree in economics, about a year of internship experience and is looking for a financial analyst role or something similar. I hate rejecting interviewees. :( some of them are genuinely nice people and I think many of them have potentials, but just not the right fit for my team because of skill sets and experience level. I know there’s no perfect candidate and all but some are just not going to be the right hires. It’s ny first time hiring ppl so it feels very uncomfortable and guilty. And I think “hiring based on attitude” is very idealistic and not applicable in most real life scenarios

Any tips on negotiating my raise? I have a check-in with a partner this week where we will discuss my raise. I just finished my first year at a consulting firm with ~4K employees. The average raise from first to second year seems to be 6.5% but I really want to gun for 10%. I have good reviews and the best chargeability metrics in my starting class. How do I frame my target raise without sounding arrogant about my charge stats or tone deaf about the current environment?
