My wife and I make a combined income of 600k, 1M net worth including 401k, mid 30s, HCOL jurisdiction, no house. Late to the game bc of grad school loans. Goal is to hit 10M at 50, so in 15 years. Doable? If not, what’s a better goal? Should be buying a home in my ridiculously expensive city (SF)? Most of net worth is in index funds right now.

Our receptionist had been treated like she was dumb A LOT. She quit on the spot today and I am cackling at the "shock" from the partners, especially the partner who told her we didn't need her here....and now he wants to know what happened. I hope all attorneys aren't this wild.

Just got an email saying I missed my deadline for a mandatory training and if I don’t complete it right away, it will be further escalated. How bad is this from a year end perspective?

What’s the latest you’ve ever been to a court appearance? Covered for a colleague of mine today and was 15 mins late 🫣. To my defense though - the opposing party called me right before I was leaving my place to ask me questions about the stipulation agreement, which both parties signed 30 mins before the appearance. Plus, I live an hour away from the courthouse. Still I was embarrassed that I was late and obviously mortified. Case settled though!

My boss made a offhanded comment about the size of his penis in a team meeting the other day. I’m the only woman on his team and I suspect he forgot I was there. Ever since then, he’s been acting weird… avoiding me… walking on eggshells.. etc.

I have a 5 yr old son… talking about penises does NOT scandalize me. But now I’m worried my boss is going to find a way to fire me out of fear he will get accused of sexual harassment. Suggestions?!

Question: I've had 2 opportunities cross my path in the past week. One is on the on the way towards a pivot I want to do and it really the one I think I'd want but the 2nd came through a former boss, is $20k more a year than the first, but only slightly different from the job I have now. I'd be stupid to let the latter pass waiting to hear about the former but it's not 100 percent down the path I want to follow. I'm torn...Advice?

I've always been asked why I found a "proper" job at my 30s and wasted my years in unrelated jobs like call centers and inhouse calls for installing Windows.

I can't seem to make them understand that in 2008, it was impossible to find an IT job in Greece as a woman. I had certifications and knowledge but I couldn't even get a callback. I would send the same CV as a man, and they would call immediately.

Now things are different but still this question comes up and I'm struggling to answer it.

Someone posted something earlier that brought back awful memories for me. I'm from the Caribbean, living and working in the UK. Well educated and capable. Yet at my old job, if I joined in a conversation one of my colleagues used to say things like, "Wait - the men are talking. Wait your turn." Or even worse, "Hang on, all I heard was, Blah blah blah coconuts!" Or the same colleague would repeat something I said in a hammy Jamaican accent - I'm not Jamaican anyway. Annoyed just remembering it!

I’ve got to write a mid year self-review. Does anyone have tips for what to put in the ‘super powers’ section and ‘areas of development’? I tend to have low self esteem and think I’m bad at everything, so it’s hard to know what to talk about. I don’t want to point out all the things I think I’m bad at and highlight them. On the other side, I’m not sure what my strengths are. Any suggestions for identifying both strengths and weaknesses?

2. Have you ever regretted the move? What have you done next?

ISO pep talk/advice. Interviewing for a role this week that I REALLY want, but the imposter syndrome is kicking my ass. I have a lot of experience as an IC and manager for very small teams (or as a team of just me) and the role would be helping lead a larger team of creatives who have as much or more experience than me. Bc of this, I’m a little worried I don’t really have anything to offer them as a manager. Anyone dealt with this before? Any advice on finding my value-add?

I'm really good at taking constructive feedback and hardly ever take it personally but I switched teams early this year and everything discussed as a team, always feels like a personal attack. One of my team members constantly feels the need to call out my work and I get constant feedback from my manager about what I'm not doing right.
I feel mentally tired trying to do my best work and keep them happy at the same time. I don't understand how to think about this in the right light.

OK fish! A couple of strange things have happened and I have a question. What can recruiters find out about your job seeking activities. For example, recently somebody in a senior position said “they just excepted a job with you, but they are still engaging with job postings on LinkedIn.” Can a corporate company know what you are doing on LinkedIn?

Hi All, which is better for future careers “Senior consultant” at EY Or “project manager” at a local large organization?
I’m currently a business analyst and recently I was offered a promotion to Project Manager.
Meanwhile, I got another offer from EY as a Senior Consultant
My current company are willing to match EY offer and they want me to stay.
Part of me wants to join EY as it’s a big name on the resume and I can learn a lot from it BUT another part of me wants the PM title!
Suggestions?
