Happy Monday! So what's the deal with all the avatar craze right now- teachers making Bitmojis and Flat Teachers of themselves? Are you into it?

I’ve had a Bitmoji for a long time now. I used to use it for my official school webpage but the. The district wanted to make use more consistent. Real photos next to school logos. 😭 I’m an older chubby woman. I really don’t want the real me out there. 🤪

I actually find it so cute!! But I doubt I’ll be sitting down and actually taking the time to do it anytime soon 😂

Bitmoji Classroom, yes. Flat Me, no.

Interesting, I have heard of Bitmoji but that’s it. So what are these apps?

Bitmojis go into my google slides or power point slides for my lessons. I have done this for like 3-4 years now.

I love using my bitmoji for assignments etc. So I'll probably eventually cave on whatever this avatar thing is. I like using the avatar instead of actual pic since kids like to joke too much when they see my photo. Ahaha.

I like it! But, it’s not my first!

This is the new Facebook version. I have multiple avatars I’ve created over the years but this is my current favorite!

i want one!

I’m not into it. It’s like we are spending so much energy to look cool and tech-y when actually good rapport and engaging activities don’t need this.

I don’t do it to be cool or techie. I enjoy creating my avatar and have for over a decade now. As I posted earlier, we can’t use them in my district because our technology department has set really strong firewalls. Although, it is another way to connect with students. It is also fun to create avatars on paper the first day of class as a get to know you thing. I could see me doing virtually if we are not f-2-f in Aug/Sept. 🤔

A month ago I gave my boss a formal letter requesting a review of my current job duties and a salary adjustment and title change. I’m performing at a senior level and not being paid for it. She agreed with the argument and submitted request to HR. Last week I asked her for an update and she casually said it will probably take three more months bc HR is so backed up and dropped it. I’m grossly underpaid and getting more tasks daily. What can I do? Can this be retroactive? I’m so fed up.

Are there any mothers here who voluntarily gave primary custody to the kids father? I love my children fiercely but tbh I don’t think I’m cut out to be a single parent. Family and friends tell me I’m a great mom but at the end of the day having them on my own is exhausting and I end up just either letting them do whatever they want Bc I don’t feel strong enough to set a limit about it, or yelling at them. They’re 4 and 7 for reference. Please constructive responses only. Thank you!

Thinking about going on a weeklong solo trip. Looking for something relaxing, but where I can get out of my comfort zone to talk with the locals. Any suggestions for an introvert friendly place? 🙂

Plaintiffs counsel took my clients deposition today. He mentioned that he would likely be ordering the transcripts and I suggested we split the cost of them (in front of court reporter). He got pretty defensive and said absolutely not, it’s unfair to the court reporter, and that it is frowned upon in the industry to do that. Each party orders (and pays for) their own copy. I’m in my 2nd year of practice, never heard such a thing. I’ve actually split the cost before! Curious for insight on this…

What's a rule you are expected to enforce that you strongly disagree with or are indifferent to. Do you enforce it or take the risk? I move around as a tutor and am currently working with a school that has a ridiculously strict formal address policy. Honestly, is this year ever going to end? These evals are killing me! 😣
