Do you think there are roles in industry that I could work in that are not related to internal audit or risk. Since I’m in risk advisory, it seems like that’s the only exit to industry and I don’t really want to do that work.

Sorry, I don’t have any experience at all in internal audit or risk so I wouldn’t know the potential exits. Just think about the roles you’d want to target and see if you can adjust your experiences to fit.

This is highly encouraging. I’ve been in an IT coordination role for about a year, picking up similar skills OP is describing.

2) cont. My experience and brand name of Accenture I thought wouldn’t stand out, so I worked hard on building a cohesive narrative that was easily picked up from my resume and I could pitch in the first few minutes of my interview. 3) don’t overlook the cultural fit. For me, I think this was key to landing my role, talking with the my recruiter and the hiring manager herself about the cultural fit/expectations for the team and dynamics. I could then tailor my stories to exemplify those values. 4) study and learn about the business model of the company and team you’re interviewing for. This might seem basic but it’ll make your answers to behaviorals and cases so much more impactful if you’re able to spin in context on how business is run or point to specific examples. I studied ad models and user segmentation in preparation and looked at competitors and how their ad business models were set up.

Thanks for sharing, Op!

What’s the WLB for your role?

Mixed, on average I’d say 50 h/w

How did you get a referral?

I had a friend that worked there. If you’re looking for methods of getting one, I suggest networking with school alum or asking if your friends/colleagues know of anyone that works at the company you’re looking to apply to. Most of my friends have been happy to introduce me and they’ve in turn been helpful on advice and even potential referrals.

Glad you left Accenture. Would love to hear more about your time with the firm

Sure, I wasn’t passionate about any of the work I had done at Accenture so it was hard to show initiative, which I knew the role required. I had some experiences I could talk to about working independently but my extracurriculars was where I shined by actively taking steps to improve an organization and process on my own initiative. It’s also much easier to engage with and talk about volunteering than some project work.

What kind of skills and experiences did you have at that time and what was Facebook more interested in?

Skills were generic PMO, reporting, process management, Salesforce, and basic data analysis. My hiring manager favored being able to operate independently, good cross-functional collaboration skills and cultural fit.

Thanks for sharing! I’m doing my first PMO project and as demotivating as it is to do - I’m glad it’s useful.

TBH PMO skills are kind of crucial to any project across any industry. Staying organized, tracking goals/status, and building cross-functional capabilities to support and unblock your team is highly valued.

How intense was the SQL assessment? Did you already have a strong background in it?

You can find a bunch for free online, Mode, SQLZoo, hackerrank and Leetcode are some I used

What’s you’re overall YOE?

Just curious, any idea what the comp is at 5 YOE in BizOps in Facebook?

Great job OP! What’s your educational background?

What do you think you’d go to bschool for?

Anyone from Michael's here who could refer me to a position ?

Does anybody else feel like they are in a traumatic and very abusive relationship with their firm? My entire work experience at Deloitte is the main trigger of my anxiety and depression. I have been trying to find a good exit opportunity but things keep on falling through the cracks. Covid really screwed up the job prospects that I had lined up, and I dont know to do. I understand there is no perfect employer but when I leave Deloitte, ill most likely cry from the relief of my pain.

Currently interviewing with two companies (healthcare tech) and looking for a little advice. Have final round interview with Company A tomorrow and get the impression they want to move quickly with offer and start date. Company B final interview is scheduled 2.5 weeks out and timeline for offer after that isn’t clear. Company B is more attractive role and is local. Any advice for navigating with Company A if I get an offer and pressure for decision before final interview with Company B? Cont.

How unreliable has glassdoor become for salaries? Or reliable? I see some TC on here that's insanely higher than glassdoor. Is it just due to recent hot hiring, are people inflating their own egos, or is glassdoor just not that reliable anymore. I checked my own position and I'm on the higher end of the spectrum for my position at my company which makes sense with my YoE and exposure in the company, but still within the expected comp of the role.

My husband and I are going to start trying soon and are trying to get on the same page regarding childcare. I suggested daycare but my husband says he absolutely doesn’t want a “stranger” watching our child. Instead, he wants our moms to watch our child. My mom doesn’t have the best health and can’t really be relied on so that leaves his mom. I’ve said for years that I don’t want our moms to be our childcare. Is there a way to compromise here? Any idea that’s not a parent = stranger to him 😩
