Yes, twice.
Once I accidentally flattened a kid who was assaulting another. I ran over and the kid bounced off of me into a wall.
Afterwards it was suggested that I try not to do that.
Once I jumped in between two kids and they just stopped instantly.
Its good to be a giant.
Nope, thank God! 🙏🏾 But if they are throwing blows, then I am not breaking it up, but I will call for administrators and the resource officer.
Yes. As a substitute once. Called up front and the principal was in there within two minutes. Second grade.
Happened in my room. I just opened the door to try and get one out but they were swinging. One of our Behavioral people came in and broke it up.
About five years ago, two female students came to blows near the door of my room at the end of class. I had stepped into my office and heard the commotion. I stepped out, yelled, and started running across the room to separate them. My plan was to push one away and grab a hold of the other one, however they both dodged and somehow I wound up with a girl in a headlock under each arm. “Ladies,” I calmly said, “we’re going to the hallway. If you can both control yourself, I will let you go and we will walk to the office. If not, we can go just like this.“ They chilled and we walked to the office.
And then the cell phone video came out two days later followed by a parent complaint. The Principal looked at the video and deemed it “reasonable restraint.“ Ironically, the parent complaining was the parent of the girl who was really getting her butt kicked.
A couple of times. Once in my hallway a senior student I knew very well finally got into it with someone who has been harassing her all year. Eventually the harasser threw the first punch and my student went to town. I got to them once they were already going at it and I stepped directly in front of my student (the other girl was knocked to the ground at this point) and got her walk away. Other students around me said if it was any other teacher she would have punched through them. 🤷🏻♀️ I trusted her to hear me and didn’t even think she wouldn’t stop once I asked.
