Following. Never happened to me when I was M at a Big 4 but curious to see the responses. Personally, I would try to find out why the team doesn't like the employee X especially if the client likes X. Generally, it would be tough to remove X without having to make a lot of excuses and possibly push back from the client (unless X did something serious like sexual harassment or expense fraud etc)
Yes. Employee X is very personable and knows what they’re talking about so they are very good in meetings. Employee X doesn’t follow through on team deadlines so team ends up picking up employee X’s slack. Solution was to staff more people on the team and offload some prior commitment employee X would have normally done. It’s not an ideal solution but it works for the most part.
I agree. The extra staffing was the equivalent of one person and she was working on multiple engagements at a high level. So most of the hours projected for her ended up getting spent on other clients and filled with a good junior staff member
