Has any one ever successfully had a big 4 firm allow you to work a fixed 9-5 schedule (no overtime etc) and have it work successfully in client service? Like legit laptop closes for the day and your done.

No but I’ve seen people transition to a contract position and only work busy season or negotiate a 4 day work week but they work like 12-14 hour days M-F

I knew a Tax SM at Deloitte who was on this as a 90% Flex arrangement. I didn't ask if she ever got pressured to work OT anyway.

Do u all get paid OT?

Yes, they modify your pay to remove the OT hours and you go in a flexible work arrangement.

Right they prorate based on your billable utilization. So you may get 70% pay and hours in theory, but if big client push happens will need to balance project and may work additional hours. Just depends how your teams respect the arrangement. YMMV

like

No. There is always deadlines and delays to work and many other factors. You are scheduled for 9-5 hrs but still need to get the work done. We can close our laptop but we can’t close our phones.

I see people in flex schedule replying to internal and client emails after their working hours. I don’t know if it’s their choice to reply to the emails or they were expected to reply.

Not 9-5 but 7-5 I’ve seen - so 50 hour weeks with the person working through lunch.

Why so much pay disparity in EY GDS?

I am an individual contributor in my current engagement. Taking care of end to end. When I done the billing, got to know that they are charging the client 10x and paying me salary as 1x out of that.

More than 90% is taken by EY.

Based on this data can i demand for pay rise?

Am I poorly being paid here?

TIA

So I worked from home yesterday and my husband had a sneak peak on my meetings with clients (which I’m very new to being a senior). He mention that I should read some sales pitch books of some sorts so I can get a process down and not be drain from having genuine conversations with every client. I think it’s a great idea. Anyone have thoughts or recommendation?

Were any Big 4 companies directly involved in the ‘08 financial crisis?

I started working for a construction company’s office around 5 years ago as an assistant making $13 per hour. I now run the office and an in charge of payroll, project management, tracking expenses, paying material companies, paying subs, excel spreadsheet management, and pretty much anything and everything to keep a companies office up and running. We are a fairly small construction company grossing 7 figures per year. I am currently being paid $17 per hour. Does this sound appropriate?

I’m guessing this might be a no... but... does anyone put volunteer time on their time sheets? Like under client development or charitable or something? I volunteer for an adaptive ski group and I have received referrals form the people I meet, but outside firm sponsored fundraisers or other firm volunteer outings, it feels weird to put my time skiing on my time sheet - thoughts?

Anyone working in such an arrangement for over a year now and what are its Pros and Cons.
