OP I’m at Deloitte and currently have anthem blue ppo. I just went under my 4th IVF cycle and waiting for results on the egg. If this cycle doesn’t give any good results, I will also be considering DE as the next step. I’d also be interested in finding out the same information on DE coverage

But yes after I get green light will be more active and move forward.

I went with a donor option after several surgeries and 4 failed IVF cycles, 4.5 months ago I gave birth to my daughter. Since it’s quite expensive here in Canada and the offered protocols were not satisfactory for me ( since they didn’t work on me and hadn’t been tweaked to adjust along the way) I went through the 5th IVF round in Europe. With the cost of the donor egg and medications I paid around $7k.

I think donor egg vs. adoption is a very personal decision and really depends on what’s most important to you in growing your family so it’s tough to answer this. Each brings its own benefits and complexities (beyond cost), both are still an emotional roller coaster and neither one comes with a guarantee. Where in the process did you experience issues? That might also influence your decision. Does your RE have a recommendation on whether DE would be a good option to pursue? We went through multiple IUIs and 5 rounds of IVF and recently decided to go the DE route. I’m not at Deloitte but our insurance experience was that it didn’t cover purchasing donor eggs (I’m not sure any insurance does), but they did cover our fertilization, transfer, monitoring and medicine. So maybe confirm that with them? Regardless of what you decide, wishing you all of the best in your journey! It’s extremely tough, but you’ve got this!!

What insurance do you have? I have Aetna and we have a $40k lifetime max fertility benefit. The insurance Rep told me $15k of that is towards the drugs. It doesn’t matter if the benefit is used on your eggs or donor eggs but once you hit $40k you are done.

like

Ok I figured no matter what plan we chose the benefits would be the same for infertility. Mine is 25k max and 15 max for drugs. I have to call anthem. When my nurse called then anthem said no it's not covered but i called them last year and confirmed we had it and they said yes. Now I hear we dont. Ugh.

Can we talk healthcare? Republicans want to kill pre-existing conditions protections with Obamacare. Covid may have long-term effects that could be pre-existing conditions. Millions of people have lost their jobs (and job-sponsored health care) and will soon have no health care (because it'll be prohibitively expensive with pre-existing Covid conditions). Trump is trying to repeal the ACA with no replacement. Why would anyone who’s had Covid and is unemployed vote for Trump?

Ad agency designer desperately looking for an out but I have a possible new job opportunity. Here is my dilemma: Pros.... more money, no crazy client demands, pitches or decks or even prospective clients that will go nowhere (in-house), better benefits Cons.... this is a big one - it’s healthcare I’ve been at agencies with a range of clients for the past few years. Career suicide taking an in-house healthcare job? Especially if role focuses more on growth & performance over design?
