I have been an RN for 2 yrs and 6 m now. I started my nursing in the sub acute unit of a hospital, it was ok i didnt mind it. Right away they made me one of 3 charge nurses and I felt the pressure but I was ok. Switched to outpt GI setting and loved it the only thing I didnt like was not being home with my kids since it was mon-Fri because we were short staffed I would do 10 hr days at times. decided to apply for bedside medsurg. constant anxiety attacks now hate being an RN. Im only 3m in.

Any book recommendations?

Also, What should a nurse with 7 years of experience be making per hr? I have been offered a job in Florida ( I am currently practicing in Toronto, Canada) and am wondering what is a reasonable rate to accept as what I’ve been offered is much lower than what I currently make.

Thoughts on moving to NYC this year? I work in DC consulting and was supposed to move to NYC this summer as my boyfriend is moving to NJ this month for a new job. I was planning on moving to NYC with my company, and we’d live apart but only be 1.5 hours away. I’m now laid off and looking for a new job, and wondering whether it will be safe and financially worthwhile to move to NYC towards the end of the year or whether I should look at DC jobs and stay in DC, at the expense of my personal life.
