Has anybody made a shift from construction Project Management to IT/SaaS/application Project Management? I would love some insight. This industry is not for me, and I need to know how to leverage my current PM experience & show it on my resume. 2 years experience as a Project Engineer, seeking Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager role. Currently working on getting my CAPM certification

Take an active interest in learning to code. You don’t have to be great at it, but you’ve got to understand the basics. Enough to know if a
software engineer is wasting your time/resources. Very similar to construction, the best PMs usually have hands on experience in some trades. It helps with the soft skills between client & contractors, and understanding the tasks and time required to complete tasks & meet deadlines. Good luck on the pivot and future endeavors

I’ve been applying for job (tinkering with my resume, doing development on my free time, and trying to reach out to recruiters on LI) for a while and haven’t gotten anywhere. Started looking at jobs in private accounting. I scored interviews for a Staff Accountant, Junior Accountant, and Accounting Assistant. I just finished interviewing for the Staff Accountant position which feels very much like AP/AR and Bank Recs to start, similarly to the other two positions. Does the title matter? I want to be able to grow but at the same time I want to make sure I’m moving up positions in my job search so I’m exposed to harder/higher level work.

In seeking to advance beyond an impending permanent burnout spinning wheels at lower levels, how does one best acquire a top position, say, Director, or apply their skills in a way that’s fulfilling again? Pivot is such a different kind of advancement, its not climbing or moving laterally in a game of chutes and ladders; its more redefining what it means to work with the guts and passion. With a company lead whose mind is out of the game and ready to retire and move on, how do I get his job?

I've worked as an HR Generalist and Business Partner for over 15 years, and I'm ready to do something else. I have some pretty significant experience in compensation and I'd like to pivot into a role that's focused there. I know there are some certifications available through SHRM and World at Work - any thoughts from those in Comp whether these would compliment hands on work experience and if they might improve my chances of getting noticed for a role in Comp?

There are no mistakes. There are only signs.

Taking a job that seems interesting at first and later realizing it is not right for you is a sign.

It’s an arrow pointing you away from that type of work.

And knowing what you don’t want helps you get closer to discovering what you do want.

DM me if you need help.

I'm at a career juncture and have decided on a career in anti-money laundering as my new path. I'm also highly interested in additional education to further my career and am eyeing graduate school. I keep reading that JDs are valued in compliance but am wondering if a different graduate program is better for my goals. I already plan to obtain the CAMS certification. Thank you!
