Graduated with STEM degree 4 years ago and worked in financial services as a technical business analyst for 3 years. I made the mistake of accepting a role that has absolutely NO growth potential and has become a roadblock in my career.
I’m firing away applications for roles I’m qualified for and getting no response. I’d like to pivot to Salesforce and get an Admin very but I’m afraid the market will be oversaturated and the same will happen. I’m at a loss here with what to do.

Has anyone here shifted from PR (public relations) to another career path?

Started looking at jobs in private accounting. I scored interviews for a Staff Accountant, Junior Accountant, and Accounting Assistant. I just finished interviewing for the Staff Accountant position which feels very much like AP/AR and Bank Recs to start, similarly to the other two positions. Does the title matter? I want to be able to grow but at the same time I want to make sure I’m moving up positions in my job search so I’m exposed to harder/higher level work.

In seeking to advance beyond an impending permanent burnout spinning wheels at lower levels, how does one best acquire a top position, say, Director, or apply their skills in a way that’s fulfilling again? Pivot is such a different kind of advancement, its not climbing or moving laterally in a game of chutes and ladders; its more redefining what it means to work with the guts and passion. With a company lead whose mind is out of the game and ready to retire and move on, how do I get his job?
