Has anyone attempted or been successful at negotiating more parental leave or earlier eligibility (if employed <1 yr) with their job offer?

I have no idea what I'm talking about but aren't those types of things usually bought before-hand from insurance companies? I.e. your company pays a certain amount so that the insurance company pays out according to the kind of plan that was already decided on.

D1 I don’t think so...some companies roll short term disability as part of maternity leave and some companies seem to just have their own policy that’s not linked to insurance. That’s why I’m curious if anyone has attempted or successfully been able to negotiate this benefit.

My friend gave birth 1.5 months early. She kept it on the dl due to some finds in the ultrasound. It’s her first child and he’s in the NICU (developmental issue). I want to send her something but am at a total loss. For any moms here, any ideas? Don’t know if she didn’t disclose earlier because the child’s survival odds are rare (his issue is very rare and there’s not a lot of medical literature on it). TIA

Any mom's here who remember their first trimester? Anything you stopped doing, eating or drinking? Obviously the basics like alcohol, smoking, caffeine, raw seafood, flaxseed, rosemary, etc. Family is very cautious is driving me insane. Between covid restrictions and baby restrictions, I feel like I'm in jail. Suburban cycling ban and all-bran are the latest drama.

Universal Orlando trip? I am seeing an uptick in covid cases and articles sayin the area is "crisis mode". We have a group all vaxxed except for 1 -small child and 1 half vaxxed (next shot isnt until we get back). Would you go or is this fear mongering again?

I’m pregnant!? And I’m getting a job offer tomorrow. I need to know a million things like their insurance packages (I really want to keep my Kaiser insurance) and whether they offer paid leave before the one year FMLA mark. What else do I need to know? How do I ask all this stuff? How concerned should I be about disclosing my pregnancy considering I just tested positive, and I barely know these people?

Our baby is due soon so we’ve made the decision that we will only have visits from vaccinated family members (not realizing it would be an issue) only to find out that my Dad will never be getting vaccinated, planned to lie about it AND asked other family members lie to us about his vaccination status too… when we found out and asked him about it, he started to FREAK out. Now I’m questioning if we’re being unreasonable… how have you guys been handling unvaccinated people meeting your newborns??

How old were you when you had your first child? I know it sounds ridiculous but I’m 25F, completely single and I’m beginning to worry that if I don’t find a partner in the next couple of years, I might be left on the shelf.

Mother superannuated today and was able to watch her farewell speech. Feeling very emotional (i.e. tearing up at midday) as I recall our humble beginnings and how much my middle class family has sacrificed and achieved. My parents sent their only daughter for higher education abroad and it is tough to see them grow old. Getting exposed to so many new facets of life as a 25F…. just one of those days. How would one calculate child support when there is an adoption stipend being received? I have an attorney arguing it should be included as income for calculating support and I have another attorney on the other side saying it should be excluded entirely as it’s a benefit for the children. The stipend is a monthly payment received as a result of an adoption that occurred when the parties were still together. I can’t find relevant case law or statutes on point. This is a KY issue.

What is the parental leave policy at your firm? Please include: (1) size of firm; (2) location of firm; (3) how many paid weeks off (from firm - not state/fed); (4) other perks, such as ramp up/down time, etc.

I am not from USA and English isn’t my first language so trying to understand is my nanny being out of line here. Our nanny has been extremely defensive to any feedback and has comments to an extend she compares everything with me and hubs. Few examples - you eat healthy, I am really jealous what money can buy. Why are you breastfeeding your kid I formula fed my son and let him be independent do you think he is not okay ? (For spending hours on call with LC). Additional screenshots

Had my first miscarriage late last year. 8 weeks pregnant now and saw baby on sono the other day however, at times I don’t “feel” pregnant. Like my boobs don’t feel sore and don’t have intense food cravings. Maybe it’s all in my head but how do I stop from worrying about a 2nd miscarriage? ☹️ My next appt is in 4 wks and I wish time sped up so I could feel more in the clear.

Moms help me. I'm resentful that I got pregnant and now stuck dealing with the exhaustion of a newborn and recovery. My soul mate Hubby wanted kids, not me, but since it was "something he couldn't live without" I agreed since I was on the fence. He's super helpful and we have family to help out, which is more than most moms. But the exhaustion and PP depression is making me resent my decision and him. Baby is perfect, a regular healthy full term joy. I'm so blessed. But so miserable. Help.
