Has anyone been a reinsurance buyer? What was the day-to-day like? Hows the WLB?

I did it for a while before switching to the carrier side. Mostly it’s pretty easy, but during renewal periods, you’ll work long hours. Our CEO insisted property and casualty treaties renewed effective the same date, so June leading up to 7/1 was particularly hellish for me. The rest of the year I just provided quarterly updates, dealt with treaty exclusions, Fac placements, etc.

Currently working as a buyer. My perspective is the ceded re departments are spread thin (buying reinsurance is a big expense to the co), often working hours outside of the traditional 8-5 especially at renewal periods. That said, I’ve only ever been at one company so may be different elsewhere

Help Opinions Needed!!
I recently received a job offer from fidelity and wondering if I should take it. It'll be an extra $800 a month vs. what I'm getting paid at the bank currently. Not sure if it's even worth leaving the bank for or if should take it since I doubt I'll get a major increase in raises.

There is a lot of discrimination in my school in regards to LGBTQ and gender representation. My schools dress code does not say anything about wearing gloves or black nail polish and I got in trouble for wearing that. My boss said “I’ve never seen a man wear gloves before.” Am I a jerk for thinking that’s discrimination?

Question: care to share your salary, work experience, and level of satisfaction? I’ll go: 70k, 6 years in P&C Commercial Lines, 3/5 I’ve been interviewing with recruiters from LinkedIn and so far received an offer for 85k, and others range in the 90-110k range. Am I missing something? Am I underpaid? My book is 33 accounts with about 70M in premium. These other offers have books of between 60-75 accounts and comparable premium. Please share your experience and insight. Thanks in advance!

Hello all! I am currently a P&C Client Manager for the 15th largest broker in the US. When I joined my company, I was brought on as an assistant for a former employee who taught me everything I know about my role. I came with on no prior insurance experience but caught on quick. I am about 4 years in now, on a team with newer employees, working on the same accounts plus new ones. One assistant and one Senior Client Manager. (Continued in comments)

Any wholesale property marketing brokers here? I’ve been feeling kind of overworked & kind of exploited lately… mostly due to my people pleasing personality and not being able to say no. I am working on at least 10-20 new business accounts and another 10-20 renewals each month. Revenue on the renewals alone are around $100-200k per month. On top of marketing, I also have to service a few larger accounts that are difficult. My salary is in the $70k range and I feel it’s a bit on the low end…
