Has anyone been denied entry to 🇨🇦 due to a DUI? How long ago was DUI? Mine was 4 years ago and I travel there next year for work. 😨

Check the site, you have to file TONS of paperwork, go to an interview, etc. my friend got a DUI and her grandparents live there. Took her 6 months to get cleared

like

I heard you can head to their consulate and get pre-approved to enter even w a dui. Havent verified it yet

like

I have a few friends I go skiing with that have DUIs and they get in fine. I think it only comes up if you are selected for more than a standard check which might be the case if you put "work" as your purpose of travel

like

Just be prepared - it takes ten years to clear a dui charge to get into Canada. They will issue a visa the first time for you to be there - expect to be in customs for about an hour. They will tell you what you need to do after that if you have to go again. I have personal experience with this.

like

I went through no issue three weeks ago. But I'm not on a long term project. Sales, all trips are quick

like

Yeah I'm worried about this too, haven't tried visiting since but will have work trips + want to do personal vacation as well

like

Lol what?? Canada has a policy of denying entry for people with DUIs?? When I went there it wasn't an issue, although I didn't need a visa. I wouldn't worry about it

like

Yeah, this would be good information to have, can't visit friend in Canada because of this stupid DUI

like

I would start switching projects.

Interesting will check that out thanks

@M2 do you just go with the TRP paperwork then? Will they let you in for personal travel (I assume business travel is usually a compelling enough reason for them to let you in)?

Is it normal for you to ever be “ghosted” by your administration? I feel like I’m constantly emailing, calling, texting, and meeting with them and nothing gets done. As soon as I leave their office, I’m ignored. If I email/text them a question or request, I’m ignored unless it benefits them. This is at a district where I travel between 3 schools and have 3 principals. They’re all like this and communication is especially important since I have to travel.
