I spend so much time working I don’t pay attention to politics
BCG1, it doesn’t and shouldn’t. Analyst 1 just racially profiled you but felt it was OK because they assumed you were a white male.
It’s a two way street people. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Need to decide how likely you are to storm the Capitol and not be able to fix a deck at 3am
Lol should've replied "depends, how do you guys vote 👀"
How is that even legal? Why did they want to know? What were they going to do with whatever answer you said?

Have you completed your harassment training? Political affiliation is a protected class only in a few states.

Probably screening out the MAGA fascists. Good question.
Red or Blue MAGA?
Slippery slope, slippery slope.

Strictly speaking that’s illegal but I will normally try to get a sense of the person. I don’t want MAGA crazies causing tension in the office, nor do I want undercover socialists here just to get their student loans paid off while actually looking at their colleagues and clients with contempt.
What P1 describes should never be an issue because we should not be mixing politics with work, just like we shouldn’t mix religion with work.
Also, even if I would prefer not to have to interact with MAGAs or Socialists in the work place, incorporating that criteria in to the decision making is a form of discrimination. We can’t selectively decide what we can and cannot discriminate on... people love to “forget” that when it’s convenient
Depends. Where’s the job? Capitol Hill? If so, perfectly normal.

Yes, that or a lobbyist lol
That shouldn't be a thing

Wow. Too bad you could not record it. I assume you did not.
Not normal for an interview. Besides, they can look you up in an app like VoteWithMe and see whether you voted Dem or Rep. I can understand people not wanting to work with MAGA crazies, but I wouldn’t ask the person directly. It would make them uncomfortable and could make me vulnerable to litigation.

Shockingly it’s not a specific violation of federal law though it should be. It may be a violation of state law though. Very revealing about the firm though. I personally would avoid on that alone. Which firm asked?
