Has anyone been in a position where they experienced a re-org where the VP you reported to left the firm, project was benched and you’re placed onto a team where everyone is the same race/ethnicity and they visibly do not want you? 3 months in and I was PIPed for “not performing my job duties” I’m entry level and the manager said he wasn’t interested in training anyone. He hired a senior analyst and had me train them and then fired me.

Not sure what state you live in and the labor laws there, but that performance plan sounds extremely vague. Ours have to be very clear, solid examples that can’t be subjective—and clear objectives of future expectations.

At will employment state. The pip listed duties I was already performing and the manager was gaslighting me. I just want to know how often this behavior happens towards entry level analysts

You’re entry level but reported to the VP? Unless you were their executive assistant, I’m not sure how that works? Either way, sounds like a sink or swim situation and it did not go well. You might have recourse, depending on local laws, if you thought it would be worth it, but sounds like you’re better off to find another job and be done with it.

I’m concerned with how to explain this during the hiring process because I was shafted before completing a full project.

standard operating procedure in corporate america. Happens very often. you were just unlucky, it does not reflect on your performance. Hope you got to collect severance & unemployment, take some well-needed rest and get a better paid opportunity elsewhere.

All you have to say is that " My VP left the company / SR mgmt changed and with that leadership change there was a change in priorities" People in corporate america will understand. This happens very often.
