Yes! My friends threw me one two months ago. Our guests were 20s to 70s- lol - so, here are some helpful tips about format plus game ideas:
- Shower was split into two 1 hour sessions with a 30 min break in between, one for family and one for friends, so there would be less people on video at a time
-Started with intros about how everyone knew us — this was so nice bc people would never get to meet all the guests in person, and would just hang out with the people they knew
- Games: (1) one revolved around questions about who would be the pushover parent, who would provide more discipline, etc etc — my husband and I had to give our answer after the guests all posted in the chat what they thought <-this turned out to be really funny; our friends and family knew us well (2) Name the baby animal - e.g., Joey (kangaroo), puppy (dog), etc (3) Guess the baby - with pictures of me, my, husband, and our immediate families as babies
Tip for games: 70 year olds have no idea how to chat in zoom — figure out a better way for people to participate in virtual games so the tech savvy and not so tech savvy can be involved :)
- Hosts put together video compilations of our friends and family giving us tips / saying something nice about how we would be as parents
- They gave us decorations to hang in our apartment, sent flowers, and dropped off a cake the day of the shower
-We had been receiving gifts in the mail from our registry for a while, so we unpacked them all in advance and decorated our living room; I wrote thank you notes to the individual people on each gift and did a little video tour at the start of each shower session
Writing all this down makes me realize how lucky I am to have friends and sisters in law like this! :)
We played "The Price is Right" where we placed a lot baby stuff and asked people to guess prices, the closer the price is the winner he/she is
My pregnant friend got admitted a few weeks early to the hospital so they did a last minute zoom baby shower bc they don’t know how soon the baby is coming. They had a questionnaire that they sent out prior with sections asking for advice for mom/dad/grandparents, baby advice, favorite baby books & lullabies, & also a place to give baby name suggestions & guessing bday & size of the baby. They went over the responses during the zoom & it was cute to hear all the advice. They also did a Jeopardy style game with pregnancy questions, baby animals, & baby photos. There were probably less than 20 people around ages 30-50, I think it was just friends though no family
