Has anyone been unemployed so long you feel like you’re never going to get job again? I just keep getting rejection after rejection 😔

I’ve seen people who go up to 4 years without a gig and are able to land gigs. As long as you fill up your time productively (starting your own business, freelance, writing a book, taking classes, etc.), you should be okay. Make your skills and time marketable and good luck!

I’ve just gone through this and going with BS1 on this. I’ve just landed my first real freelance gig not odds and ends. Feels daunting and liberating.

Get yourself out there -> mine was through referral. Ironically at at place I’ve applied to several times and no answer. That’s on the hush.

Referrals are better than any experience, cv, cover letter, case study/cred/portfolio and recruiter. Focus and push on that first, while doing the others. I also landed an interview at top top agency with less experience than others because I created a proactive full on strategy piece for a client of theirs - they were impressed, sent a great email and said they’ll call me for any freelance work. Not guaranteed but left a good impression with 6 strat directors.

Create to do lists and try be firm and realistic on them on how you can approach new and existing opportunities.

Best of luck. It’s toll on the mind and other things.

Stay positive (it really is THE most important advice I can give).

I’ve been freelancing since I was laid off over a year ago and been rejected from two full time positions after many interviews and writing samples so know how this feels. It’s harder when you’re more senior, so keep freelancing snd enjoy the freedom and flexibility while you can!

Send resume to contact@tmiuniversal.com

Thank you for sending along!

You are the only one who can reject you and you wouldn’t do that. Watch Marisa Peer on YouTube she has a lot of great videos on self confidence and resilience.

General thoughts on Grand Seiko? I was looking at the Rolex DJ 36 (Oyster bracelet, smooth bezel, blue dial) and other similar sporty/dressy pieces in the $7k range (Glashutte 70s, which can be had at a high $7k handle with discount), and have now had my attention captured by GS (specifically, SBGA439 - blue dial spring drive on bracelet w date). They seem to produce pieces on par with GO, JLC, and other boutique makers at around half the price. What’s the catch? Will I get what I pay for?

New parents: how are you managing setting expectations around your schedule and availability? I have a pretty understanding team, but am starting to resent all the extra hours that are often required. Tbh, it was getting a little old even before the baby. Are we all just sucking it up?

I'm looking to return to the U.S. after over a decade living and working in SSA (Marcom for ecommerce startups and tech enabled nonprofits). Is it normal for a recruiter to contact you via text asking for time to schedule a phone call? I applied on LinkedIn easy apply and uploaded my resume which has my email and phone number. Just curious if this is the new normal!

I recently started (5/mo ago) at a new agency and everything is a 180 from my last role and I’m honestly getting discouraged. Everything from pitching style and media approach to the types of clients (I was told in the interview process I was going to be working with some clients but that has totally shifted) and I feel like my experience and expertise is both not valued and ideas shot-down at every turn. How can I turn this experience around?

Anyone working in Culture, Change Management and Comms at Korn Ferry? Interviews make it sound amazing -- great clients, fast growth, opps to shape the practice, inspiring leaders, w/l balance... What's your experience?
