I’ve seen people who go up to 4 years without a gig and are able to land gigs. As long as you fill up your time productively (starting your own business, freelance, writing a book, taking classes, etc.), you should be okay. Make your skills and time marketable and good luck!
I’ve just gone through this and going with BS1 on this. I’ve just landed my first real freelance gig not odds and ends. Feels daunting and liberating.
Get yourself out there -> mine was through referral. Ironically at at place I’ve applied to several times and no answer. That’s on the hush.
Referrals are better than any experience, cv, cover letter, case study/cred/portfolio and recruiter. Focus and push on that first, while doing the others. I also landed an interview at top top agency with less experience than others because I created a proactive full on strategy piece for a client of theirs - they were impressed, sent a great email and said they’ll call me for any freelance work. Not guaranteed but left a good impression with 6 strat directors.
Create to do lists and try be firm and realistic on them on how you can approach new and existing opportunities.
Best of luck. It’s toll on the mind and other things.
Stay positive (it really is THE most important advice I can give).
I’ve been freelancing since I was laid off over a year ago and been rejected from two full time positions after many interviews and writing samples so know how this feels. It’s harder when you’re more senior, so keep freelancing snd enjoy the freedom and flexibility while you can!

Thank you for sending along!
You are the only one who can reject you and you wouldn’t do that. Watch Marisa Peer on YouTube she has a lot of great videos on self confidence and resilience.
