Hi, so I’ve been working as a (TCP temporary creative professional) while one of the agency’s employees was on leave. I understood it to be a FT position, clocking in, etc but last week a bunch of employees were on vacation and I didn’t get projects. My work from the week before was all approved, so I had no edits. I asked for work, reached out, etc but ended up with very few billable hours, which annoyed the bosses. Now I’m not sure how to proceed. Do I NGAF, clock in? Or wait for work?
Anyone have mandatory PTO during the holidays? Our leadership is making us use PTO days if we don't have billable work between Xmas & NYE. I don't even celebrate Xmas, kind of annoyed
Had an offer for 30% more , a promotion to manager, extra week of vacation to switch firms. I love where I am at with my clients and there is a lot of potential there. Should I stay the course?
Is it weird/rude to do work during a 2 hour hair appointment (instead of taking the PTO)?
Hi 🐟🐠- when leaving ACN, is there any advantage to PTO payout vs. staying employed and taking PTO?
Deloitte moms, I need your guidance. For some reason, someone (not sure which team) has marked my maternity leave (LOA) starting next week on DTE and I can’t update it to show PTO. I have repeatedly told the Leaves team and MetLife that I’m not starting LOA until the baby comes (due date 10/31, no baby yet). Whom do I contact to fix the DTE issue? If this happened to you, what did you do?
Anyone interested in joining on a trip to Morocco and Egypt this december holiday break ?
How are firms which are closing handling non-attorney staff? It seems some are forcing staff to use PTO and/or putting them on furlough at some point. We are thinking this through now.
My wife has had complications with her pregnancy recently, so I've been taking advantage of my unlimited PTO to stay at the hospital. My boss has begun complaining that it's been too frequent and the team needs me. How do I balance being there for my wife and my team?
Deloitte moms, how much of your 6 month mat leave is made up of short term disability and how much is paid parental time off?
Does slalom cash out 100% of the PTO balance when you leave or do they have loopholes to avoid paying you the full amount?
I have a 3 day vacation scheduled in mid-May and I wanna put my 2 weeks notice too. Is it ok being on vacation inside your last 2 weeks?
What’s your methods to recover from a bad work experience? Can’t really take time off now to escape physically but need a mental break. TIA
PTO at a lake house with a few friends in late October. Are there any Airbnb deals we should leverage? It’s not too pricey once it’s spread across 6 people, but wanted to check in case there’s more
Confession - I don't want to go back to office. I'm happy working from home and find no solid reason in stepping back. I hope the flexi work culture allows permanent WFH - I don't have a "good enough" reason, but I don't want to go (isn't this good enough?) It's been 1.5 years now, too comfortable to step out from my PJs to jeans.
Just found out that my SO is going camping this weekend and I am SO EXCITED to have the house all to myself this weekend 😂. Covid has given us wayy too much forced time together 🙈
Recently, as you probably know, Dr. Seuss's estate chose to stop printing a few of his older books that had offensive racial stereotypes. There was huge backlash from white people, including teachers here, screaming "cancel culture!" Now we have a white guy who murdered eight Asians in custody, unharmed; while the police officer who killed an African American man for allegedly trying to pass a bad check is about to go on trial. Full disclosure: I'm white. But I'm still enraged by all this. You?
If you got fired, would you care?
What do you think is a reasonable comp package for an Amazon L5 position in a MCOL city?
Biglaw corporate (m&a, vc, cm) lawyers (especially midlevels+)! Do any of you work out regularly? What is your work out schedule? What type of exercises? How many hours do you bill b4 you drop it?
Going on vacation to Europe. Looking for comfortable shoes that won’t hurt from walking all day, don’t look ugly (with nice dresses/clothes), and can perhaps even be considered for wearing to nice places (eg dinner, bars). Probably asking for a lot here but please let me know suggestions! Don’t want to take 4 pairs of shoes for a one week trip 🙂
Wondering how much a Partner makes in Big 4 consulting? Is there really that big of a difference at the Partner level compared to MBB (starting 7 figure)?
What’s the difference in an “Experienced Staff” position and “Senior” at EY in terms of compensation?
Need advice on what is appropriate to bring up to my manager. My project is wrapping up soon. The last month or so I have felt incredibly burnt out and depressed. I’m not sure if it’s been (contd)
I feel like the usual consulting exit messaging to new employers used to be “need to get off the road”. For those exiting during the pandemic, how are you phrasing the decision to exit to potential employers? My concern with saying something like “need improved work-life balance” is that it equates to “I want to work less hard” given that many companies allow remote work right now which blurs the hours of operation. Am I overthinking this?
Thinking of moving from San Diego to Austin, Texas. SoCal has been great to me, but I’m over it. For those who have moved to Austin in the last year or two, are you happy with the move? (Single, 27yo, M)
Would love your help negotiating an offer! I’m a manager with 4.5 YOE (promoted early), interviewed with a startup for a manager role, offer came back for associate role (associate role is entry level and requires 3-5 YOE, manager requires 6-8 YOE) at a 10% pay increase with EOM start date. I’m due to fully vest AND receive a bonus from my current firm in April and have not yet brought this up to the recruiter. Should I be concerned about a title cut / how should I handle April convo? Thanks!
Considering the FRM certification. Those who’ve taken it, how quant heavy is it? I have a compliance risk background and don’t have a deep math or statistics background. However, I want to expand my skillset. Any thoughts?
I have an offer from PWC as an Associate and for EY as a Senior Consultant (financial services). I have a feeling PWC is better culture wise and with WLB but not exactly sure what things are like at EY. Can anyone give some insights on what the culture and WLB is like within these companies? Not exactly sure what decision to make. I’m leaning more towards EY because of title upgrade, comp package and the nature of the work but I’m also scared because of WLB and culture concerns. EY PwC
Wife got an interview at Goldman, and her prescreen is with an automated HR video that asks all the questions. Damn, AI taking over jobs quick! But also helps recruiters to focus on recruiting
