Work is so interesting. Came from commercial, very boring transactional work, not motivated, no room for creativity. With L&E no two days are alike, but the comp isn’t great though.

I came from a general business lit background. I like the stories in L&E - far more interesting to investigate and argue, plus the law itself is interesting to me. I also find L&E litigators to be generally less terrible to be around than other types of litigators.

Came from general commercial lit after about 3.5 years in practice. I find the LE work to be more interesting and also think (hope*) I will have better exit ops from big law down the line.

Hey everyone!
I'd love to get your feedback on our subscription marketing service.

My partner and I created a cost-effective subscription so small / medium-sized businesses could focus more running their business and strategies without the need to hire in-house, manage multiple freelancers, or fight with agencies.

We do this with a proprietary Workspace so marketing managers can delegate projects, connect with our team, and download completed work / files.

JL Associates, do you think we are getting another raise?

Ok, maybe this has been done before, but I want to get a real life sense of the difference between EPLI and Private L&E (management side) practices. Let's do a poll:

1.) Primary source of business: EPLI or Private Companies?

2.) Number of matters you are currently working on

3.) Average billable rate (your year)

4.) Normal working hours/wk

5.) Percentages: Litigation vs Counseling

6.) Type of firm: ID, Big 4, Boutique, BigLaw, etc.

I'll kick things off in comments.

What is considered a “large” caseload in employment litigation? I work at a large L&E boutique law firm and handling about 14-15 active litigation cases in state/federal court or arbitration. Some of these matters are multi-plaintiff and multi-defendant cases, but none are class actions. This does not include any matters I am handling in the charge stage or in pre-litigation. Not sure if that’s a typical caseload or not?

Case load= malpractice? Small plaintiff’s firm of 25 attorneys. I was a 2 year associate hired and given 50 active files in pre litigation status. 9 mos later a partner quit and I inherited 45 more. I got up to 105 files. Now I hover at 85 active files in varying stages of pre lit. I asked managing partner for help and was told to settle more claims to lessen my load.
