I’m also just so sick of tax compliance in general and I don’t feel like I’m very good at it. I don’t feel like I’m in the right role for me, but I feel like there has to be something out there better suited for me and the skills I have to offer!
Sure have! The best I've found is tax technology, more from an implementation/training role than development. It's been monumentally hard to get into though. So far, not really feeling the support of leadership.
I'm also struggling with the demand of my position and the toll it's taking on my family. I don't like tax; never thought I was any good at it. Review points seem to support that. I just can't sacrifice the money for an easier role with two kids in daycare 😅
Oh my gosh yes!! That’s how I feel too. This sounds bad but I need a job where I can learn what to do and then get good at doing it well... without things changing all the time and having to keep up with it. I don’t want to be challenged at my job 😂 Life is challenging enough. I want to save my energy for my family.
First, I dont think anyone feels like they do compliance well until about year 5.
Second, you might consider a smaller firm. We manage the client load to try and keep hours in the 56-60 in busy season, 36 in the summer, and 40 the rest of the year.
