Has anyone donated blood in Manhattan recently? Recommendations for not crowded centers? I’m basically sheltering in place to avoid COVID and have a week off; figured I’d do something helpful while I can!

Thanks! I did some digging and decided to go to a NYBC site, since I want to donate plasma and that seems to be one of the few locations for it

like

NYBC actually set up a pop up at our office building…went upstairs to donate and went back to the desk. In the future, perhaps see if they come to your office.

like

Kind of unrelated, but I tried to donate blood recently and was unable to, as I lived in France during the lates 90s for a few years, making me ineligible due to there being an outbreak of BSE (aka Mad Cow disease) there at the time.

like

I had that issue with Red Cross given that I spent 7 years overseas in Europe, but NYBC has less strict geographic limitations with regards to Europe and they’ve taken my donations. Have to been screened out of both RC and NYBC?

Has anyone else had a really hard time online dating with Covid? I’m aware things are getting better but I prefer to do outdoor first dates to be on the safe side. No judgement to anyone that does differently. It’s just what I feel comfortable with. I’ve had a few guys tell me they won’t do outdoor dates for some reason… some have cited weather but others legit say no (in 70 weather) because it’s a hassle & “Covid is a joke.” Please tell me if this is normal.

Rant: I finally got a baby registry started and sent the link to family... and immediately was told all the things I need on there that I don't have (including things I'm opting to just NOT GET, like an electric pump - why is my nursing preference up for debate????). I hate it already. I'm tempted to take it down, buy it all myself and just tell people to start a college fund if it bothers them.

It’s hard to understand COVID-19 rates of infection where I’m at or was, and the contracts was not inline with corporate ideals at least not in the IT sector. Their ideals was radical and the spread of harmful information on past events to prevent ethnicities to get vaccinated was alarming. It has highest infection rate in private sector. Don’t know death rates was strictly remote and put on non-sanctioned project NDA wasn’t signed and never knew until it came down the grapevine.

Last night BF and I went out to dinner since neither of us wanted to cook. We were having an enjoyable evening and ran into a former co-worker and her husband who I have not seen since before COVID. Ex co-worker made this odd scene about my "glow up" and even posted to social media a picture she insisted both couples take.
Anyone else ever find themselves in a similar situation?

For those who were diagnosed as an adult can you provide some insight into how you were able to obtain a diagnosis. I went to my primary care dr who referred me to another dr who specialized in mental health. He asked me about 5 questions before telling me I should see a neuropsychologist for an official assessment. The referral he gave me is super pricey and apparently isn’t covered by insurance. Is that normal?
