I’m doing karyotyping for my next round. Does your drop off happen between day 3 and 5, or after it goes to PGS testing?

My old one didn’t recommended it, but my new one said to do it just to check the box. He doubted we have any issues there because half or more of our day 5 embryos have been normal. We have the biggest drop off between day 3 and 5 which he says can be anything from egg quality to lab protocols.

My doctor told me she would only recommend it if the PGS testing showed consistently issues on a single chromosome. Since my PGS testing showed issues across a range of chromosomes, she didn’t recommend it.
I’m doing it now after an unsuccessful IVF. Dr thought it was better to do it prior to our next IVF to double check that’s not our issue. Best of luck to you!
Yes, after my third failed cycle. I had 3 embryos (not tested) not implant after the first cycle, then no embryos to test my second and third cycles. We did karotype (normal result) and laparoscopic surgery which discovered endo all over my ovaries and an ERA test which discovered a post-receptive lining. The fourth cycle resulted in embryos to test (1 normal which implanted and is now my son after adjusting my transfer to account for the ERA test). The karotype is helpful if something is discovered and is typically covered by insurance but I also HIGHLY recommend the ERA test. My doctor finds this is a major factor in unsuccessful transfers. For me it was worth the $800.
I did as part of the panel of tests we did as part of the "fertility workup" at the clinic we went to after TTC for a few years.
Found a genetic condition which affects the ability to conceive a viable child so they recommended going straight to IVF with PGT-SR testing.
So glad we did because out of the 2 embryos we got, only 1 was viable so we saved ourselves the heartache of a failed transfer or later loss.
With PGT-SR did you also have to get a CVS or amnio?
