Many of these posts are about meeting people, but it’s also perfectly enjoyable to indulge in solitude if that’s what you’re seeking. The great thing about solo travel is you get to choose for yourself either way rather than accommodating input from other travel companions.
Thinking Japan and maybe a few countries in that area
I’ve solo travelled four different times, it’s amazing - but take care of yourself if you’re hitting nightclubs or other parties. I had a 2 drink max, no drugs rule to make sure I would get home ok
I recommend japan. Safe country and great culture. Get the Japan Rail Pass and you can do and go wherever easily
"Experience the nightlife" = "sleep with randos"
What are you aiming for? Being a tourist or partying?
Following! Also contemplating the same, but feeling weird about it
Mostly a tourist but would want to try the night life too.
As a tourist just try to plan most tours ahead and choose fall or spring time to travel. You find more people willing to meet others in these times of the year, plus you have more chances of meeting locals too.
As for partying, I always check when each location has a big party going on, because that means a lot of people will be in town for it.
Do you have any country in mind?
Get a Spartacus gay guide app to have a list of the gay places. The touristy stuff of Japan you can get info everywhere. Japan is super organized and easy to travel around.
I just came back from a solo trip to Japan, was incredible. Suggest 3-4 nights Tokyo, 1 night Hakone, 3-4 nights Kyoto. The Japan guide website is a helpful starting point.
If you're solo traveling try staying at hostels to meet people!
Uhhh hostels are so juvenile... not sure if I would recommend that.
M2, I think it was quite clear that OP wanted to meet other gay guys when he said explore the nightlife and party scene. You can enjoy solitude locked up at home.
D1, chill. M2 is just trying to help. I’m mostly trying to spend time exploring and eating but I definitely don’t mind having a few drinks to experience the nightlife. M2, glad to hear a lot of things could be indulged in solitude. Let me know if you have any cool recommendations.
EY1, do you ever get bored doing things on your own?
Practically all I do!
