Holy crap, is it common in professional services to openly refer to people as "diversity hires"? I mean I went to the same top 20 b school, paid the same $120k, got the same 650+ gmat.
Do other firms have an Asian Diversity or affinity group? If so, what are some of the things the networks have done which have been helpful?
Any fun ideas for a gender reveal? (Not mine but for a friend). Only 6 of us will be there
There’s been a rise in Diversity equity and inclusion trainings. My experience with these has always been terrible. How has your experience been? Anyone have good experiences? If yours has been terrible too, what should they have done differently?
Interesting perspective on a group who gets left out of the diversity conversation. https://www.diversityinc.com/9-things-never-to-say-to-white-colleagues/
GF just got a job in Fort Worth and for anyone who lives in the DFW area... are there any POC that live in Fort Worth? lol we’re visiting and see mostly white people and not a whole lot of diversity?
Were you out at work or with your family first? Would also love to hear if it was your gender or your sexuality (or both) too.
I'm gonna be real: People of color are 100% treated differently in my group. Diversity and inclusion are merely rhetoric and marketing collateral.
Did you know? “Women receive ‘negative personality criticism’, such as being called bossy or told to ‘watch their tone’ in around 75% of performance reviews. Men, on the other hand, rarely do.” From https://cultureplusconsulting.com/2018/03/10/gender-bias-work-assertiveness-double-bind/
President Trump recently signed an executive order banning US service members and federal contractors teaching certain components of diversity training. I’m wondering from those that manage in organizations affected what sort of ripple is this having. Do people anticipate a ripple effect on private businesses? With so many focusing on DE&I as of late, this seems like a big shock to the system.
Long story short - my nanny has many conservative values - mom shaming breastfeeding in public, gender specific roles, considering boys better than girls etc. it never bothered me before and I have learned to co exist with her however now my toddler is speaking and understanding more I am worried about him being influenced by her. Further she also has comments against my SO being too involved parent & calling out son as cutie, hugging toddler etc as he is a boy. Contd..
Does anyone feel like the 'token' diversity person in a room/meeting and how do you deal with it?
I am curious how other inclusion teachers are being utilized when the school is doing remote learning. I find that I am sitting in the zoom class and have very little opportunity to contribute. I am having discussions with my teachers on ways that I can better support them and the students when remote.
Currently being devalued at work due to my gender. When I speak I am not taken seriously, I constantly have to deal with micro-aggressions, getting talked over, inappropriate comments, etc.
Doing a poll here to see the gender split in this bowl. can you lease ‘like’ one of the options below ? (It’s more efficient than each of us typing a separately response)

I love how strong our talent pool is. I don't love being rated "average". Even though that means on track for promotion, it's annoying.
Does anyone know of any website that lets you filter in-house positions by those who allow remote work? I’m assuming this does not exist but wanted to see if any of y’all have any thoughts.

As a copywriter with a solid strategic agency background: What’s the best way to find my niche? In-house? Deloitte digital? Regular agency? As I evolve into a senior role, I’m not sure how to leverage this. My two fortes are: Storytelling/scripts, headlines, and conceptual planning.
I only plan on staying in consulting for about 2 more years then off for an MBA. Would it be more worth it to take a level and pay raise at a different big4 moving to senior level rather than going to associate/analyst level at MBB? These are my two choices at the moment. I want to position myself best for post MBA jobs in industry. Salary will def be lower at MBB compared to the senior level at big4 so not sure if it’s worth the trade off in experience.
Deloitte sucks! I interviewed with them a few weeks ago. I was a senior consulting S&O a few years back and they now interviewed me for sr consults OTT. Well... I was offered a consultant position
