Has anyone else felt like you tend to get relegated to a more administrative role in your cases where men (even junior to you) take on a substantive role? How did you handle it?

What would you ask for in total comp from Amazon for Sr. Product Manager position? Role is based out of Seattle.

Just transferred from IT Audit to Strategy and Transactions. Been a goal of mine for a while so I’m happy to see it play out. Not posting just to say I did it, but because I’ve been following this bowl for a while and see people get negative about being pigeon holed. There were tons of transferable skills that I was able to highlight that got a role that’s completely different, so I just don’t want anyone feeling discouraged if they’re hitting walls.

Currently in the interview process for an account manager role on the east coast. What is the typical compensation for this role? Is it typically heavily bonus based? Trying to weigh my options where I am coming from a tech company with a good salary and opportunity to get promoted by end of year.

I was given a promotion 6mos ago & told that the position was a lateral move & a raise would be given at my 6 month mark. Throughout my time at time at this company I’ve realized that they call people in to give their raise on the exact date of milestones (i.e: 6 mos, 1yr, & so on). It’s now been one week since my 6 months in this new position. I’d like to reach out to my boss and set up a meeting to review my work & discuss a raise. Should I wait a bit longer or should I set this up now?

I’m in a major metro area. Does anyone know how much travel will be involved? I know true consulting firms are known for the road warrior reputation. I would love to hear success stories about attorneys who have quit firm life, taken a non-profit or government job (including a 20-30k pay cut) and didn’t regret it. I am so over firm culture. My fiancé and I would still have a comfortable combined income but I am worried I would miss the extra cash. I think I know deep down this is what I need to do but I’d still love to hear success stories!

Found a niche in my legal practice and have been giving presentations, doing client development and working hard to create a space for myself. I’ve partnered with various mid and senior partners on some of these presentations, but I write the script, did the prep work, and have the case experience. One mid partner was asked to present my presentation at a conference taking place during my upcoming maternity leave. He readily accepted then called me to make sure I don’t mind him recycling….

I’ve been working an absolute ton recently and my partner seems somewhat supportive in the moment, but as soon as I have free time he wants me to make it up to him. Assume one partner has looked out for you from day one. Assume one or more other partners suddenly need you (read: your labor) such that could leave partner 1 high and dry. These other partners couldn’t give a shit less about you in the ordinary course. You obviously don’t have much of a choice in the end, but how does this make you feel?

I have so much anxiety about making mistakes at work, with the latest one over a partner calling out a mistake I made (and should’ve known about) that a senior associate also didn’t catch during her review. I adore this senior associate and actually triple-checked everything to make life easy for her, and yet still somehow missed this ONE (tiny) thing. Does it get better with experience? As in less anxiety and less mistakes on the details?
