Has anyone else's firms essentially dropped their DEI programming? After last summer, we had a lot of virtual meetings with speakers and awareness weeks for various affinity groups. The diversity committee also had meetings planned. The awareness weeks scheduled for 2021 summer, fall, and winter never happened, and the diversity committee meetings keep getting canceled and never rescheduled.

To us our family is diverse , I had zero exposure to outside Indian culture until I was 15. What is the benefit of diversity to growing kids ? Hi, we just launched Diversity and inclusion committee at our work place and one of our many initiatives is to share some reminders /notifications about safety and inclusion in common employee platforms/portals e.g There’s no place or time when discrimination is acceptable. Please feel free to report to HR if you com across any discriminatory behavior. Anyone has any more similar ideas what other topics we can add?

After reading many annual reports, I am really getting tired of the fact that female management board members are always HR. Often that’s the only female member. Gender equality has long way to go

Experiencing cultural biases in my group. It amazes me it’s not seen or even thought about. But at Capgemini there’s this big push on diversity and inclusion. Well Capgemini you are failing....

Since this topic comes up once a week on here: Is having a racial preference in dating racist? (1) it is, (2) it may not be your fault, you could have been conditioned by society to view one race as attractive, (3) no it’s not the same as gender preference, (4) yes this damages our community, basic emotional intelligence would let you realize this, and (5) pick up your phone and Google instead of asking here over and over. There is a wealth of research and history behind this topic.

So I typically don’t answer the EEO questions at the end of applications that ask for race and gender. Lately I’ve noticed companies following up via email for this information after I submit the application. Am I the only one who does this? Does it even matter? Any thoughts on the follow up emails asking for the information after the application has already been submitted?

Has anyone made the jump from a traditional role (producer, strategy,etc) to an internal diversity role? Specifically interested in carving this out for production department

I went to an Ivy for undergrad but also got into all the UCs. My main reason for choosing Ivy was for relatively more diversity since they use affirmative action compared to UCs at the time which was not (and therefore had many many more Asians). As I reflect on my four years there I still see the value in Affirmative Action because by being so much closer with people who were different than me, I learned so much more about the world.

What are your thoughts on splitting everything 50/50? I've only dated men who take pride in being protector and providers but now running into men who want everything split 50/50.
