Hello Fishes, I am new here and would like your inputs on the Grade, Designation & Basic salary in TCS. 1. Is the Grade - 'C3B' & Designation - 'ASC - Associate Consultant' correct for 11 years and 6 months of experience ? 2. And is the Basic salary offered in TCS very less than the Market standard? Thanks in Advance 🙏🏼

Hi Everyone,
I just received an offer to work as an software sales representative (SDR) for IBMs Z systems. I'm coming as a sales engineer in the cloud security space. Can anyone advise me on whether Z systems are something worth going into? Also what do the growth opportunities look like at IBM? Is there opportunity for lateral movement onto other teams? Not too sure how I feel about working on mainframes (Z systems) but they keep pitching hybrid cloud to me. IBM

Yep. Young whippersnappers are like "you couldn't understand" some whiz bang new playtoy tool, then I go into my speciality and blow their minds. And say "you couldn't understand either" (in my head though, I'd probably get fired for saying the same thing "because I know better")
I feel ageism for myself. I feel slower, less up to date with stuff, and more high level in most things.
It can go both ways. Everyone is on one side of that age line or the other. Find allies on your side, and try to be understanding of the other side. It helps.
Part of the problem is we rotary phone generation are in denial. It’s alright, we’ll survive. After all we saved the world from Y2K 😂
I felt the age gap at my last start-up. I was 35, everyone else was 25-30. We had a recruiting discussion and someone said they were concerned a candidate was « too old » for the job. The candidate was also around 35. Needless to say it did not work out between this start-up and I long term.
I know what you mean. Especially in certain tech areas and start-ups. It's a lot of culture misfits for older folks like me who are 50+
Yep. I’m ready to throw in the towel and just drive a truck
My guess is that what you're encountering is VERY specific to certain places, and certain types of roles. I've encountered the opposite where I'm too 'young' for certain roles etc - even if the experience is there so it can really go both ways! The best way to play it is to just really double down on the experience, rather than focusing on your age.
