Has anyone ever been denied an offer from Deloitte because they were leaving a role at one of their major clients?

Because they are also an accounting firm, there are a lot of regulatory loopholes around hiring people from clients. This doesn’t surprise me. I saw this in Seattle with the Microsoft / T Mobile account.

Thanks for this insight.

I worked at major client of Deloitte’s and wanted to interview for a consulting role. The recruiting team checked with the Partners on the account before I interviewed, and I was told that I couldn’t interview. The recruiting team should have done their due diligence upfront instead of wasting your time and energy if the move could be seen as poaching talent. Also, D2 brings up a really good point about the accounting arm. I ended up joining another B4 and leaving a few years later. I left for a client and had to check in with the Partners on the account before joining my new employer.

Ya no one mentioned that this would be a concern, including the Partners that I met with during the interview process. The offer has been approved by 2 people, but the HR person who is the final approver is bringing this up. I interviewed with one other company (not B4 and they are a growing cybersecurity company for the same role I am in now). I feel confident about getting an offer this week but just need to make sure its a lateral move from my current role. They have had a hard time finding someone for this position, but I came as a recommendation from the Chief of Staff to CEO so they are willing to consider an exception of being remote and up level the role and salary to where I am at now since I have the skills they want. So crossing my fingers that they can make a competitive offer.

This second part is confusing. So you’re at Ross trying to move to D. Your offer got rescinded bc D has a large contract with Ross? This isn’t unheard of. Is D the only place you want to work? Kearney is doing some hiring, let’s chat.

I have interviewed with about 5 other companies, but the salary range they were offering was too low so I politely declined to continue with the interview process. I interviewed with a growing cybersecurity company (public, 10k+ employees, and great financial stability) . I also have my 2nd interview for a interesting program manager role at Amazon but not really sure the role/team is what Im looking for. I had 1 interview with someone on the team who didn't seem prepared to interview nor knew anything about the role specifics. After that, I didn't hear from the recruiter for 2 weeks and they reached out for another interview tomorrow, so we will see how that goes.

I interviewed about a month ago and the recruiter communicated to me that they intend on making an offer. My skill set is a unique and a trending role, so my salary expectation is high for a manager level. I know they have an internal panel that must approve, but it has been about 2 weeks that it's been waiting approvals. There was alot of questions that the recruiter had to justify but now they are concerned because I'm leaving a role I have been in for 3 months for one of their major clients. My interest in leaving is mostly driven by location since I want to relocate. I'm just getting frustrated why they are being so diligent about my offer because my employer when I'm not in a non- compete. Just curious if anyone has experienced this.

OP, if your firm is an attest client, this makes sense. But you’d be dodging a bullet, seriously

OP. Reading through this thread. I’m impressed. Go girl! Wherever going land. I’m sure it will be amazing.

Ethical question: would you try to negotiate a raise in current job if you know you’re actively looking elsewhere? Context: had an incredibly challenging year with a huge project that completed successfully. Extremely complex tasks and long hours. Got an award for “disruption” but in summary, the role evolved and now I want to ask for market adjustment /as well as merit raise. I also hate what I do at the moment and can’t wait to leave, but might take months. Should I still ask for a raise?

FISH FAM! Looking for advice on late-stage startup offers:   Currently at 140k base and have two offers: - Offer 1 – Growth role: 130k base + 160k Stock Options (vesting over 4 years) - Offer 2 – Business Development role: 160k OTE (120k base + 40k uncapped commission) + 180k RSUs (vesting over 4 years)   Are these offers within the right range? And which to prefer? I like both roles but IMO, offer 2 has a better comp package, whereas offer 1 has more upside considering the stock options.

Should I be concerned for my career with lack of billable projects? Background: Analyst hired out of undergrad in July 2020. I have worked on 3 proposals in the last 2 weeks, and 5 in the last 2 months. In the past year since I was hired, I have 8 months of billable work which is actually slightly higher than the other Analysts I joined with. Should I keep collecting paychecks and hoping for projects, or is this a serious issue that should prompt an exit strategy?
